Former GOP nominee Romney will not run for president in '16

Good news and bad news...Romney drops out, but his former supporters have gone over to Jeb.

Former GOP nominee Romney will not run for president in '16

FILE - In this Jan. 28, 2015 file photo, former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney speaks at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss. Closing in on a decision about whether to again run for president, Mitt Romney is finding that several past major fundraisers and donors in key states have defected to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. The donors, in interviews with The Associated Press, said they see in Bush what they liked about Romney in 2012, namely what they believe it takes to serve successfully as president, but also something he could not muster in his two previous campaigns: what it takes, both in personality as a candidate and in a supporting staff, to win the White House for the GOP. WASHINGTON — —

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will not run for president in 2016.
Three weeks after unexpectedly saying he was considering a third campaign for the White House, the former Massachusetts governor told members of his staff during a Friday conference call that he is out of race.

Romney jumped back into the presidential discussion on Jan. 10, when he told a small group of former donors in New York that he was eyeing another White House run.

But in the days since, as Romney tried to rally support for another campaign, he discovered that several of his past supporters and major fundraisers had defected to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

Said one this week in an interview with The Associated Press, "I have turned the page."

That's good. Mitt's positions aren't the answer to our problems. I wish him and his family well, but not in politics, at least not in the US.

I agree that Romney isn't the answer to our problems. However, his failure to run makes Jeb Bush the clear establishment player now. That is not a good thing because I was hoping to see them divide the establishment primary votes and donation money. On top of that, Bush is much worse than Romney in my view. Of all the candidates I'm hearing mentioned, Ted Cruz is the only one that has repeatedly stood against illegal immigrant amnesty. Unfortunately though, Cruz has serious questions concerning his eligibility.

We need someone that represents us on the issues of immigration and border security to step forward!

My understanding of the law and the Constitution is that Ted Cruz IS eligible even though he was born in Canada because his mother was a natural born US citizen. One parent is enough to meet the "natural born" test.

The problem with obama is that his mother allowed his step-father to renounce his US citizenship in order for obama to attend a Muslim school in Indonesia, as that is the requirement for attending school there. (assuming he was actually born in Hawaii!)

A natural born citizen under the Constitution is a citizen born to 2 US citizens (natural born, native born or naturalized) on US soil. You can still be a native born citizen born to 1 citizen on US soil, or born offshore to 1 citizen, but you are not a natural born citizen. A natural born citizen is one who was not only born here on US soil but born to 2 Americans, eliminating any and all foreign loyalties and dual citizenship through parentage or place of birth.
