Frist is a liar, so called enforcement bill is anything but

Real numbers on Frist and other bills -- All floods -- All disasters -- More phone and fax needed

TELL THE TRUTH TO YOUR SENATORS -- MAKE SURE THEY KNOW THE SCORE

Well, the hope that Sen. Frist (R-TN) stirred last week when he talked about introducing an enforcement-first bill has been totally dashed.

Rosemary Jenks -- our Director of Government Relations -- analyzed the bill and found that enforcement appears to be the last priority of this bill. Clearly, its first priority is to open the floodgates to even higher waves of foreign workers and their dependents.

More than 20 million permanent immigrants would be allowed into the U.S. over the next decade alone, under the bill Frist introduced!

That's on top of the nearly 50 million foreign workers, immigrants and their children already packed into our communities. Neither the immigrants nor the native-born in those communities will find their quality of life enhanced with the addition of another 20 million (plus all the children they will have once here).

    1. Our analysis delivers the numbers -- painful numbers

Here is what is at stake.

Our analysis finds that the minimum number of permanent immigrants that would be allowed over the next 10 years under the three main proposals would be:

    20 million under Sen. Frist's bill (S. 2454)
    25 million under the McCain/Kennedy bill (S. 1033)
30 million under the Specter proposal (no bill number)

The McCain/Kennedy bill will certainly add even more than that because it allows at least 400,000 foreign "guest" workers each year. And after four years of work here, they would be allowed to get permanent green cards. But we decided not to make all the many guesses involved with that one when figuring out the overall 10-year effect. But it would be reasonable to estimate that the McCain/Kennedy numbers could go as high as 30 million.

If Congress becomes stalemated and passes no legislation, past recklessness by Congress will still result in another 10 million foreign workers and dependents permanently settling over the next decade.

H.R. 4437 which the House passed overwhelmingly on a bi-partisan vote in December would reduce that to 9.5 million over the next decade.

That is still far too high (we advocate cutting it to at most 3 million), but H.R. 4437 would also lead to a steady decrease in the overall illegal population.

But to any Senate office that claims that the House bill is far too restrictive, point out that even it would allow to stand laws that would force 9.5 million more permanent immigrants into our communities.

    2. Phone & Fax as if the rest of your life depends on it

At this moment, the majority of Senators are leaning toward voting for at least one of these giant increases.

But that was true a year ago of the big AgJobs amnesty. At the last minute with all of your protest, it failed to pass on the Senate floor.

That is what you can make happen next week when the Senate returns to begin debate on the largest expansions of immigration in U.S. history.

The Battle of the Senate is a battle over the kind of America that will either continue to exist a decade from now or that will only live in our memories and a few remote places in the hinterland.

    3. What to say to Senate offices
We have to spend the rest of the week of activism focusing on getting one point across to every Senate office:

All of the major immigration bills under consideration in the Senate will result in specific amounts of additional foreign workers and their descendants entering our communities. The actual number matters. No matter how much of a good thing your Senators believe immigration to be, it is always true that there can be too much of a good thing. Force your Senators' offices to focus on how many more immigrants their actions could bring in -- and how the communities in your state will cope with that.

With Democratic Senators, ask them if they know that Sen. Kennedy's bill would add 25 million more foreign workers and dependents the next 10 years.

With Republican Senators, I would focus on the effects of Frist's bill.

With both groups, tell them that 50 million immigrants and dependents already in this country ought to be enough.

Tell these Senators that you can't believe they would consider voting for any of these three bills after finding out how many people they would allow to be imported.

Especially all day Wednesday -- but for all week -- we want all Senate staffers to be constantly thinking about numbers like 20 million and 25 million.

We want people to start to think that the issue is about THE NUMBERS.

Point out that the House bill (H.R. 4437) allows 9.5 million permanent immigrants the next decade and that ought to be the maximum -- that there is no excuse for the Senate to double and triple that number.

    4. NumbersUSA and Rep. Tom Tancredo are joined in JUST SAY NO TO AMNESTY WEEK

Rep. Tancredo (R-CO), chairman of the 90-plus-Member Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus, is hitting about three states a day this week, blasting or encouraging Senators on the Judiciary Committee to do the right thing when they meet next Monday to decide on an immigration bill to try to send to the Senate floor.

The Congressman is going on radio shows in those states to draw attention either to a Senator's abysmal immigration record or to encourage Senators with decent records to stand their guns on all these massive immigration-increase bills.

In each case, NumbersUSA is mobilizing all of its members in a state to leverage Tancredo's efforts. Thanks to all of you who have inundated many Senators' offices with pertinent faxes thus far.

Tancredo's team uses NumbersUSA's unique immigration Profiles of all of a Senator's past actions to tailor the message in each state. Following is an example, a press release related to Sen. Durbin (D-IL).

Tancredo to Durbin: Just Say No to Amnesty

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus, called on Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) to reject blanket amnesty for illegal aliens when the Senate Judiciary Committee takes up the proposal next week. The deal, struck by Chairman Arlen Specter with the help of the Committee's Democrats, would give amnesty to the 13 million or more illegal aliens currently in the U.S., create a massive foreign worker plan which includes a backdoor path to citizenship, and does little to strengthen border security.

"There is not an amnesty that Dick Durbin doesn't like. While I don't hold out much hope given his miserable record on amnesty, I ask the Senator to listen to his constituents over the next week and to vote against the plan," said Tancredo. "Last year, the House reflected the mood of the country and passed a get-tough bill to fix our broken immigration system. How does the Senate respond? Massive amnesty, a big foreign worker plan, and almost no border security. The Senate Judiciary Committee must be stopped from passing an amnesty that would endanger our national and economic security."

Durbin is one of the most prolific amnesty authors and supporters in the U.S. Senate. On at least seven different occasions since 1990, Durbin has voted for amnesty for illegal aliens in the U.S. While in the House, Durbin voted against an employer verification system that allows employers to check the legal status of their employees. That vote makes him an even more extreme opponent of getting tough on illegal immigration than the Specter bill, which includes a mandatory employer verification system.

"Since the 1986 amnesty, more than 10 million illegal aliens have settled in the U.S. Granting amnesty to people who have broken the law only encourages more people to break the law. We've gone down the road of amnesty before-let's not make that mistake again," said Tancredo. "Recent reports have shown that the agency that would handle a foreign worker program is overwhelmed and is unable to correct or even detect rampant corruption among its employees. With no effective screening process in place, such a plan poses a major national security threat."

Congressman Tancredo kicked off "Just Say No to Amnesty Week" today, in which he and his supporters will lobby Senators on the Judiciary Committee to vote against the ill-conceived amnesty plan.

Well if he's lying to the American people this early in the game, we sure don't want him in the White House.
It's looking more and more as though Tom Tancredo will have to run for president.

Sneaky little whimp. I knew it was too good to be true. Actually, his proposal is worse than the few proposed so far. And to think I called to praise him for taking a stand against 'guest-worker' and legalization of illegals.

Why does this surprise anyone? Frist has had a forked tounge just like 98% of the rest of them from the get-go.

When I said I was not about to go pat Frist on the back for introducing yet another stall tactic, I meant it. I've been around for a good number of years. I've read literally thousands of articles, proposed bills, and other bits of information related to illegal aliens, the fight to get them amnesty and the fight to get them the hell out of here and keep more from getting in. The one consistency through it all has been the penchant for the old timers in government places to talk out of both sides of their mouths.

I've seen clips of speeches given in different towns by the same people saying two things that were the exact opposite. It is common knowledge that Frist has constantly backed the President and the President has consistently said he wants amnesty--even though the president likes to change the verbage to make it sound less harmful.

It appears that they all WANT us to be divided and the reason is obvious: it gives them an excuse to take no action whatsoever.

I've written a lot of letters lately. My phone bill will have a lot of pages next month and it had a lot last month. I've sent a lot of faxes directly to the people I wanted to reach. I've sent a lot of faxes through Numbers as well.

3 things I mention most frequently are the fact that MY preferred bill to have passed is HR 4437, NO amnesty/guest worker proposals for anyone, and that I'm prepared to give my money, my time and my support to people who stand with the 80-some % of the American people who want our borders closed to illegals and the illegal aliens who are currently here deported. In my eyes, any legislator who doesn't stand with the American people isn't worthy of his/her job, never was, and never will be.

Bill Frist used to be a doctor, right?

So how come I've never heard ONE peep out of him, about screening apprehended aliens for contagious diseases, and summary removal, to protect the health, and health care system of Americans?

Frist could hit a grand slam, and run .....all the way to the White House, if he hammered the invasion ,for the health care costs ,in lives, and dollars.

He could steal the health care issues from Dems. and turn it on them , making the issue a loser for the OBL-crowd.

A border fence would immediately stop the transfer of infectious diseases to our citizens, and other "residents". Quarantine of aliens arrested near the border would help also.

The "damage" our economy would suffer if all the illegals dis-sappeared, would be offset by the MASSIVE savings in health care costs.

Frist is a sellout, it looks to me.

    The Hypocratic Oath be damned.

    edit:

I think it's spelled "Hippocratic", but spelled more like hypocrite, is more fitting, perhaps.

Phoenixashes, why don't you write and tell him that or even put it on his blog? It is definitely a major consideration that deserves scrutiny.

If you agree with this letter than call Frist at 1-615-352-9411 and tell him:"Bring an enforcement only bill to the floor by filling the tree. We will be watching."

Open Letter To U. S. Senator Bill Frist

    Senator Frist,
You have declared that you oppose amnesty for illegal aliens. WE DON’T BELIEVE YOU! Making guest workers out of illegal aliens already in the country is amnesty. Anything other than deportation of illegal aliens is amnesty.

But you do have the opportunity to prove your intentions since you are in the unique position of senate majority leader. Therefore if you oppose amnesty of any type including guest worker amnesty, please bring an enforcement only bill to the floor using tree and cloture(fill the amendment tree) so that no amnesty amendments can be offered.

We know that President Bush is pro-illegal alien and anti-American citizen and that he will not enforce any laws that you may pass.
He is just using this so called reform package as a vehicle for guest worker amnesty. Fill the amendment tree!!!

And just in case Mr. Frist isn't aware of the meaning, Webster's says:

Amnesty: an act of forgiving; forgetting of offenses; a general pardon of offenses of subjects against the government, or the proclamation of such pardon.
