Jesse Jackson Suing City For Implementing ‘Racist’ Non-Partisan Elections

Jesse Jackson Suing City For Implementing ‘Racist’ Non-Partisan Elections

While speaking in South Carolina at the Greenville Baptist Church, the Reverend Jesse Jackson announced his plans to sue the city over the recent change to its election process – they voted 4-3 in favor of changing to non-partisan elections and Jackson believes it’s racist. What a shocker.

According to reports, Jackson told the congregation that “It costs more to run non-partisan elections. It’s more difficult politically, and non-partisan elections make the process more difficult for minorities to win.”

For those unaware, non-partisan elections force candidates to do away with their party labels at the polls which prevents party-line voting. However Jackson believes that the new form of elections are nothing more than some sort of “scheme” to destroy minority votes.

“It’s nothing but an at-large scheme,” Jackson said. “You’ll have an all-white City Council come November if this stands.”

Apparently non-partisan elections aren’t the greatest thing for minority candidates, however it’s not because the city or anybody is racist. They apply the same rules to everyone, which isn’t discriminatory in the least.

Then again in Jackson’s world it doesn’t take much to be labeled “racist.”

Are you sick of the race card being pulled all the time? Let us know with a comment!

Isn't that too bad as of right now in Nevada I can't vote in the primaries because I am non partisan, not Democ-ratic, or Repugnant, so as far as I am concerned they are denying me my right to vote to begin with. I should have that right to vote any way I want in an open ballot, and in all primaries and local elections.

They don't want that because right now there are more independent or non partisan voters in this Country put together than any other party!! We also should have the right to vote for all Councilmen and Representative's etc. in our State, because they all effect each person living in thier area and State even if they are not directly in each representives district! That is clearly their way of stacking the deck in their favor, splitting votes and denying proper votes for all of these politicians in each State, kind of like divide and conquer!

These people work for all of the people and should be elected that way!!!! If you have ever been to a city council meeting or etc you would know that your representative may vote in your favor, because you and others called them and states your opinion, but the others have no skin in that game and they can vote the way that benefits them or what they really want to pass or deny. That is making that a stacked deck..If thier elected vote depended on all of the peoples votes they would think twice about how they vote in all local things. More work for them but a better representation of what the people want. At this time things get past under the table and no one finds out what they past until it is too late because no one is the wiser except them..

Remember all politics are local!!! Is it any wonder that people feel they are not represented by their elected officials. My opinion of course!

Jackson is so wrong that it truly stinks of racism from his side of the table! Since 1867 when statehood was granted to Nebraska, the state has had non-partisan legislature elections, and a unicameral legislature. All 49 legislators were known as Senators. One of the Senators from Omaha was black and was a Senator for years, Sen. Ernie Chambers My point is that all of Jackson's claims have already been shown to be wrong! If he sues, I hope he loses because I advocate for non-partisan elections, and believe in them as a real government doing real work of the people and for the people. No, I did not agree with the legislature at all times, before someone asks.

So Jackson is saying minority voters are to dumb to know who their candidates are, what they stand for, and to be involved in knowing simple details such as who they vote for without having a sticker next to it saying *minorities vote here*? That's basically what I understand from his comments.
