Trump wants ‘extreme vetting’ to stop terrorists at border

    By S.A. Miller - The Washington Times - Updated: 3:51 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2016

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump outlined an anti-terrorism plan Monday that included “extreme vetting” of anyone from terrorist hotbeds trying to enter the United States, fine-tuning his controversial proposal to temporarily ban Muslims.

The intense vetting would aim to root out potential terrorists by identifying individuals who do not share and respect American values, including those who support Sharia law, Mr. Trump said in a speech in Youngstown, Ohio.

“A new immigration policy is needed immediately,” he told the crowd of supporters at Youngstown State University. “We should only admit into the country those who share our values and respect our country.”

Mr. Trump said that as president he would immediately have the state and homeland security departments identify terrorist hot-spots. He then would temporarily block people from those places from entering the U.S. until the new vetting process was ready.

The plan also called for a concerted effort abroad to destroy the Islamic State and other radical Islamic terror groups, which would include military, financial and cyber warfare.

Furthermore, Mr. Trump vowed to end U.S. nation-building efforts and team up with whichever countries backed the campaign to eradicate radical Islamic terrorism, including Russia.

On immigration, Mr. Trump said the prevalence of home-grown terrorist who are the children of immigrants underscored the need to vet immigrants, asylum seekers and visitors based on their attitudes toward America.

“I call it extreme vetting,” said the New York billionaire. “Our country has enough problems.”

The proposal echoed his earlier proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S., which Democrats and Republicans fiercely criticized as bigoted and un-American.

But Mr. Trump said the bigotry was coming from radical Islam’s “ideology of hatred,” citing the discrimination and mistreatment of women, gays and other groups in some Muslim countries.

“Those who support bigotry and hatred will not be admitted into our country,” said Mr. Trump.

Only stupid and corrupt people think this ban is "bigoted and un-American".
