Georgia Special Election Livewire** Democrat Ossoff Versus Republican Handel

The polls have closed in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional district for the special election between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel.

The special election has turned out to be the most expensive in U.S. history, with each side pouring in tens of millions of dollars to back their particular candidate as Democrats see a potential momentum-shifter and Republicans see an opportunity to hold off the left once and for all in the era of President Donald Trump.

President Trump has urged his supporters in Georgia to turn out in a series of Tweets, including one on Tuesday morning:

The race comes in a district left open by former Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), who vacated the seat when he became President Trump’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary. President Trump won the traditionally Republican district narrowly in November against Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News the day before the election, Handel told senior editor Joel Pollak that she expects to win.

“There has definitely been a significant bias from the local media like nothing like I have ever experienced,” Handel said. “But I intend to have the last laugh when I win tomorrow.” Ossoff, in an interview on election day with CNN, called Handel a “career politician” and contrasted that with himself who he says is “a fresh voice who wants to work across the aisle to get things done to grow our economy, work to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for women and folks with pre-existing conditions.” Ossoff also said “clearly there is a lot of national interest,” but that he will “leave it to the pundits–the folks at CNN–to assess the national implications.” Final polls in the district have shown a race that has come down to the wire, and it remains to be seen who won.

Now, as of 7 p.m. ET in the suburban Atlanta district, the polls have closed. Follow along with Breitbart News in this livewire as the results will begin trickling in soon.

It was reported last night on the news that the Democrat Ossoff spent $23 million and Republican Karen Handel spent $4.5 million on their campaigns.

Mark Halperin on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" just called this race:

I think the good people of Georgia need to thank Maddow and the socialist, progressive democrats in New York and Hollywood for the $25 MILLION they dropped in Georgia.

I just love the pay-to-play game when rich white pinkos lose their shirts!

The unavoidable truth is, the Bernie Sanders’ plan for “free” college tuition will be paid for by taxing millions of college graduates who worked their own way through college and are now trying to finance their own economic needs.

LOL!!! Well said, Johnwk!! It's so funny. They poured $38 million into Georgia including Super Pac money for that know-nothing, done-nothing, who can't even vote in his in his own campaign, because he doesn't live in the district, to run for Congress. Handel had a total of about $12 million including $6 million in Super Pac money.

A tremendous showing by her campaign on limited resources. I listened to her speech last night on Fox News, who aired her entire speech, CNN Don Lemon cut her off and went to his pundits after she thanked the President for his support, and her speech was really nice. I didn't know anything about her, but based on her speech, her manners, her professionalism, her demeanor, and her agenda, which is very much like Trump's, I think she will be a great Congressman for the 6th District of Georgia and a welcome addition to our New Blood Republican forces in DC. I sure hope so anyway!!

Her victory as well as Ralph Norman's in South Carolina, by good margins, too, will invigorate and embolden our Congressional Republicans to get to work, get their jobs done, fix our country on the things they have to do, and support this President 100%, non-stop, for the next 8 years. If they do that, with all their hearts and souls, then in 2024, this country will be repaired, fixed, improved, secured, educated, stream-lined, efficient, independent, strong, healthy, wealthy, wise and .... happy.

If there was ever a time to go for it all, it is now, because it's within our grasp, our reach, our capability. There's an old saying about grabbing the brass ring, another one about seizing the moment, and folks, this is it. This is the time to grab and seize and hang on so tight you think your fingers will break, because believe me, we will not have another Donald J Trump in the White House for many generations.

These special people only come along in rare times for brief periods, so we have to take advantage of the opportunities and solutions such leaders offer while they are here and in positions to help US. It took Donald J Trump 37 years to decide to take this on, and he took in a deep sigh with a crackle in his voice when he announced his candidacy for President of the United States. He knew the tumult, the controversy, the incoming, the heat, the attacks, the scrutiny, and the efforts that would be deployed to stop him, did he know how far they would go to actually fabricate a Russian Meddling Hoax to tear down his Presidency if he won? Probably not, I mean, who would do that??!!! But he's sticking to his guns, in all respects, and he will overcome this, and he will do so because he is truly a special person who isn't afraid of anything or anyone and his heart is pure and rock solid for the United States and the American People. Always has been, always will be.

Will we all agree on everything, every detail of every issue? No, of course not, but it's not required to fix our country. We can and will fix this nation in spite of disagreements on this thing or that thing, so long as the core issue and fundamental problem is being fixed and addressed. The rest will take care of itself over time as the fix proves its benefits and by doing so fuels the needed momentum to resolve the entire matter in full, once and for all.

Today is Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year! Make the most of it!!!
