This is an email that I got from Poe today:

Amendment to Prevent Funds for Feds to Sue Arizona

This afternoon, I introduced an amendment, Amendment #199, to the Continuing Resolution that would prevent federal funds from being used by the Department of Justice to sue the State of Arizona for implementing its own immigration enforcement laws. At a time when our federal deficit is over $14 trillion dollars, it makes no sense for the United States government to spend money to sue a state that took matters into its own hands to protect its citizens. The federal government does not enforce our nation’s existing immigration laws, and the states have the duty to protect their citizens. Amendment # 199 was ruled out of order by the Parliamentarians in Congress for technicalities. I disagree with this ruling and will continue to fight for the rights of the southern Border States to protect their people just as the federal government should be protecting the people of this nation.

Thank you to everyone who submitted their thoughts about the amount of spending cuts needed in the Continuing Resolution. To view the results of Monday's survey, please click here.

I will keep you informed about this process as I continue working to ensure that we fund our federal government while reducing oue spending. Please do not hesitate to contact my office to share your concerns about this or other matters that are important to you. I always appreciate hearing from you in the Second District of Texas.

    God and Texas,

    Ted Poe
    Member of Congress
    TEXAS
