***Live Updates*** Judge Roy Moore’s ‘Grassroots Muscle’ vs. Luther Strange’s ‘Corporate Money’ in Alabama GOP Senate Runoff

    86

    by TONY LEE26 Sep 2017

Conservative grassroots Alabama Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore faces off against D.C. establishment Senator Luther Strange tonight, and all eyes will be on Alabama to see if Moore’s “grassroots muscle” will defeat Strange’s “corporate money.”

The D.C. establishment has poured at least $30 million into the race and reportedly gave President Donald Trump plenty of happy talk to convince him to campaign for Strange. The Swamp did so because they are reportedly terrified that if Moore wins tonight, other grassroots candidates will challenge, in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s words, Swamp creatures “in their own states.”

Just hours before polls closed in Alabama, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), who would have faced a grassroots challenger in a primary, announced that he will retire at the end of his Senate term, essentially saying, “no mas.”

Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon campaigned for Moore in Alabama on Monday and said that a vote for Moore is a vote for the economic nationalist agenda that got Trump elected. Trump campaigned for Strange last Friday in the Yellowhammer State, but many voters who attended the rally indicated that though they still support Trump, they will vote for Moore, who has led in every poll leading up to tonight’s runoff.

Trump, who never admits making a mistake, openly told the crowd that he may have done so by going against his grassroots supporters and endorsing and campaigning for Strange on behalf of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and all of the establishment-aligned groups that have shown nothing but utter disdain for grassroots conservatives and working-class Trump voters.

Polls close at 7 p.m. CT. Stay tuned to Breitbart News for live updates throughout the evening. All times eastern.

(Go to Link to stay updated. Moore is leading.)

I want another vote against all amnesties, a vote for a wall, secure border and for interior immigration enforcement. Hopefully Judge Moore will be on the side of the people on all issues.

Nolte: Alabama’s Deafening Message–The Movement Is About Trumpism Not Trump

    68

    by JOHN NOLTE26 Sep 2017

With the results now clear in Alabama’s hotly-contested U.S. Senate Republican primary race, the unambiguous message coming from the GOP voters responsible for Roy Moore’s underdog victory is clear-cut — a crucial reminder to everyone that Trumpism is not about any one person.

More importantly, what this humiliating loss tells President Trump is that Trumpism is not even about him. The indisputable lesson here for the president is that even he, the man who started the movement, is not bigger than the promises, ideas, agenda, and platform he ran on.

Yes, Trump ran on specifics such as a border wall, the repealing of Obamacare, and tax cuts. Trump’s existential promise, though, the overall rationale for his insurgent campaign, was all about “draining the swamp,” or taking the fight to the DC establishment — not just within the corrupt national media and the cancerous Democrat Party, but also within the Republican Party, which, as we have seen over the last eight months, is no better than the others.

By fully backing Luther Strange, the poster boy for everything his very own movement despises, Trump defiantly violated his existential promise to us, the promise to drain the hideous DC swamp.

In a different world, in a world where, for the last eight months, while in complete charge of the federal government, the Republican Party actually delivered on its promises; in a fantasyland where the GOP did not expose itself as a gang of feckless cowards unwilling to keep even the Obamacare repeal promise that defined the party’s existence for seven years, maybe Trump could have gotten away with supporting a Luther Strange.
But that is not the world we live in.

The reality is that the GOP chose instead to use their once-in-a-lifetime political opportunity to pander to media hoaxes and Democrats, to launch countless investigations against Trump and to push for citizenship for millions of illegal Democrats.

Had the Republican Party actually honored the national mandate Trump’s 2016 victory called for, Trump supporters might have come to believe that the president had somehow managed to fix the GOP, to give the spineless a spine. In that case his support for a Luther Strange might not have felt like such a mistake … and betrayal.

Here is a another lesson the president should have not been forced to learn through tonight’s defeat…
That when a Republican Swamp Creature leans over and whispers its rancid breath in your ear…

Just come on board this one time. Just play the game a little bit. Not only will the media like you more, not only will we like you more, we will repeal Obamacare for you. See, it is all about relationships, going along to get along… That’s how DC works. Become one of us and we will give you everything you want.

…That is not a promise, it is a trap — a call for the believer to sail right into the rocks and commit political suicide.

You see, there is just no reasoning with professional con men and grifters. There is no compromising with those who have knowingly spent the last seven years hustling their own supporters. There is no bargaining with narcissistic vampires willing to sell their rotted souls for acceptance within the coven that is the mainstream media. There is simply no lie the Republican establishment will not tell, no back they will not stab.

With the 2018 midterms coming, another historic political opportunity looms, an opportunity for the movement to repeal and replace even more of the Republican establishment.

And if Trump has not learned the lesson of Alabama, the movement certainly has — that we do not need Trump in order to obtain victories for Trumpism.

Roy Moore Win Makes Steve Bannon, Breitbart News Most Feared Names in Politics

Roy Moore Win Makes Steve Bannon, Breitbart News Most Feared Names in Politics

Roy Moore’s insurgent win in Tuesday’s Alabama runoff for U.S. Senate has shaken the Republican establishment, which invested heavily in incumbent Sen. Luther Strange.

The Beltway GOP feared that a win for Moore would mean that Breitbart News executive chairman Steve Bannon could make good on his threats to support primary challenges to incumbents who had been insufficiently supportive of President Donald Trump’s agenda. As if on cue, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) announced his retirement — hours before polls closed in Alabama.

The 2018 midterm elections are suddenly more exciting for the Republican base — and much more expensive for, the Republican donor class. The conventional wisdom is that a bruising primary race makes winning the general election against the Democrats more difficult. But in a year where there are only eight Republican Senate seats up for re-election, and redistricting has helped protect the House, primary races are unlikely to hurt the overall result.

Rather, the political conditions are ripe for an insurgency. And what Bannon showed on Tuesday was that Trump’s agenda transcends elections. He and the other leading Trump supporters who came out for Moore stressed that they wanted to help the president, not to hurt him. But they have also sent Trump a signal that he dare not reverse course on the promises he made in 2016 on issues like immigration, trade, taxes, Obamacare, climate, and the border wall.

In addition, Tuesday’s result proved the enduring power and reach of Breitbart News. The website’s extraordinary performance in 2016 was no fluke. Rather, Breitbart News has built its audience and maintained its authentic brand.

And so Bannon, and Breitbart, are no longer just the most hated names inside the Beltway. Now, they are also the most feared. And that means the political movement that elected Trump in 2016 will have a louder voice than ever.

With Roy Moore Win, Trump Voters Reject New Direction on DACA, Democrats

    Michelle Moons / Breitbart News

    by JOEL B. POLLAK26 Sep 2017

Roy Moore’s insurgent victory in Tuesday’s U.S. Senate Republican primary runoff in Alabama marks a definitive rejection by Donald Trump’s base of his shift toward working with Democrats on issues like the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

They are just as frustrated as he is with congressional Republicans, but they see the answer as sending more committed representatives to Congress, not cutting bad deals with Democrats.

The seat for which Moore has now won the right to compete in December’s special election against former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones was formerly occupied by Jeff Sessions, who now serves as Attorney General. As Breitbart News executive chairman Steve Bannon pointed out in his rally speech for Moore on Monday evening, Sessions is the intellectual godfather of the Trump movement. Specifically, Sessions led the opposition to amnesty in Congress.

Moore came out strongly against DACA, while incumbent caretaker Sen. Luther Strange waffled on the issue. The reason for Strange’s weakness is that he is tied to the Republican leadership, which clearly wants Trump to accept some version of the Democrats’ so-called “Dream Act,” giving citizenship to millions of illegal aliens. But Trump voters did not elect him to pass what Barack Obama could not pass even when Democrats controlled Capitol Hill.

Many Trump supporters initially cheered Trump’s dealings with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, simply to send a message to Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan that they needed to unite their caucuses behind the president.

But now that Trump’s gesture risks becoming a series of compromises on substantive issues, the base has rebelled. They have rejected the New Coke. They want what they were promised on the campaign trail, and they will fight to achieve it.

Alabama sent a strong message to McConnell and rest of GOP elites. They thought they could buy an election in backwards little Alabama - they were wrong. McConnell could take some lessons in growing a spine from Roy Moore. IMO
