    GOONS designate Immigration Day at Camp Hope

    HOLD THE DATE!



    Join the Immigrant and Human Rights community, Labor, Faith-Based and Community Organizations on January 15th at Camp Hope: Countdown to Change!



    January 15 was designated as Immigration Day at Camp Hope, a 19-day effort to define the Change We Want for the Obama administration.



    On that day, immigrants will be present at the Camp Hope Vigil Site from 8am to 6pm playing music, praying, sharing testimonies and reflections, having discussions about immigrant and worker rights, and calling on Barack Obama to take action on these issues.



    Schedule:



    8am-11am: 8th Day Center for Justice, Sisters of Mercy, Latino Organization of the Southwest

    10:30 a.m.: press conference and step off from Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Little Village in a procession for almost 9 miles, to the Camp Hope. The procession will stop and be received at various local churches throughout the route.

    11am-1:00pm: Chicago Worker's Collaborative: hearing testimonies from workers affected by work place abuses and discrimination

    1:00-3:00pm: Chicago New Sanctuary Coalition: prayers, reflections and songs to remember those who have died in the desert and those who have been deported and separated from their families

    3:00pm: Musical Performances

    4:00pm-5:00pm: Chicago Interfaith Committee on Worker's Issues

    5:00pm: Welcoming Celebration of Procession from Little Village; also, Chicago Worker's Collaborative and Voces de la Frontera from Milwaukee, WI; Press Conference and 5:30pm Procession to University Church (5655 S. University Ave.) for Forum and Discussion

    6:30-8:30pm: Forum and Discussion: "Immigrant Rights are Worker Rights" at University Church (5655 S. University Ave.), with community leaders and testimonies from those directly affected by our current immigration and labor policies and discussion circles about our hopes for the new Obama administration.

    LOL......everyday is immigrant day to these people. Except it's not immigrant day........it's illegal alien day.

    That's not Immigration Day its like Mexican whiner day. They really need to get it that Immigration is not a Mexican thing people form everywhere in the world have and do immigrate here. But no mention of their struggles, or the struggles of all of the legal immigrants from all over not just Mexico. RACISTS!!

    They really need to get it that Immigration is not a Mexican thing people form everywhere in the world have and do immigrate here.
