GOP Facing Huge Losses in 2008

GOP Facing Huge Losses in 2008

Republicans in the Senate and House are in such deep trouble that they may not only see their numbers decrease in next year's election, they may even find the Democrats with a veto-proof majority in the Senate, a Newsmax survey finds.

One year after voters routed Republicans in the midterms, many in the GOP have all but abandoned the goal of re-claiming majority status. Privately, insiders concede, they’d be happy just to hold their ground.

I'm really sorry to hear this about our GOP Party but I am not surprised. We have record deficits both with our budget and trade. We are embroiled in two wars draining our coffers, our emotions, our reputation, our credibility and the lives and bodies of our precious fellow citizens.

We need to get with our program folks ... social liberals and fiscal conservatives ... that's laissez-faire ... that has been the foundation and strength of the Republican Party for tens of decades but instead our party has become known as social conservatives and fiscal liberals the complete opposite.

I hope people can figure out where they need to be to save our Party.

The illegal immigration issue is huge and on this the GOP is on the right side but the President was on the opposite side.

The taxation issue is huge and on this most GOP are on the right side supporting the Fair Tax but the President is on the opposite side.

If we stood for 4 things this election:

    1. Stop illegal immigration by securing our borders, enforcing US immigration law and deporting illegal aliens

    2. Pass the Fair Tax ... this is a huge issue that will help our economy, help our businesses and industries and help every single American Citizen ... and should be passed immediately this year ... Democrats should join in because this is a truly non-partisan issue.

    3. Individual Liberty of American Citizens ... we have crossed the line of sacrificing liberty for safety, liberty for security, liberty for morality .. laissez-faire ... "leave the people alone" ... that has always been at the heart of the Republican Party but has gotten lost along the way in recent years.

    4. Repeal Free Trade, stop the NAU, protect our nation so we can rebuild what we have lost .. 20 million good jobs and all the wealth in facilities, equipment and technology ... that went "poof" out our door ... wealth that took generations of Americans to create ... just handed to third world nations .... this is just unacceptable and inexcusable.

Come on People ... lets get with our program ... our American Program of American by Americans for Americans.

Jorge Boosh has been on the wrong track of too many issues. The Reps in Congress stick with him. They will overwhelming lose Congressional seats.
    It will be a landslide.

If the right guy gets nominated, he can beat Hillary. So, I hope Hillary get the nood.

IMO, Obama or Edwards would have a better chance of actually winning.

For myself, I'm voting for candadites that FIGHT illegal immigration, and OPPOSE comprehensive immigration.

I hate to be the fly in the ointment here, but you can't just rely on being opposed to illegal immigration alone to win.

You need good, solid candidates who support a platform of sealing the borders, denying benefits to illegal aliens, and prosecuting businesses that employ illegals. Even if the American public recoils in horror at the Democrats' open borders, anti-English pandering it won't make any difference if there's no one on the other side worth voting for.

This is something the national Republican Party needs to remember, otherwise what happened in Virginia is going to replicated across the spectrum next year.

Myself, I think the Republicans can do fine. I'd like to see them get Dick Durbin's Illinois seat.

The Republicans will need to distance themselves from Bush and his administration. Avoid being viewed as corrupt and effectively point out that Dems are just as corrupt, if not worse in some cases.

The Republicans have their work cut out on issues like the economy and healthcare, but with Dems supporting illegal immigration Dems have to keep saying "undocumented workers help the economy"

Remember Dick Durbin said he knew we were being lied to about Iraq?
but he didn't say anthing until much later.
He is very pro illegal immigration
Illinois is not very happy with providing benefits to illegal aliens, like the AllKids program which is ever expanding. The same program that Durbin and Blago proposed to go nationwide in 12/2005

The Republicans do need a health care agend. One I saw a bit ago was on
sharedprosperity.org, it sounded better then most and specifically said "every legal resident". Promoting something like that may be good.

    I concur with that analysis.

The Republicans need to emulate what Nicholas Sarkozy did over in France, i.e. distance themselves from the party in power, which is their party in this case.

He broke with the rancid Chirac regime while still hewing closely to the Gallis label-even when his policies stood in contradiction to what the UMP stood for.

That's what the GOP needs to do.
