It is the states that decide on the death penalty. Some states have it and some don't.

That may be, but it doesn't change the fact that Paul is a death penalty opponent. It's a character issue for me. Morever, it's been my experience that most politicians against the death penalty are soft on crime. I believe Carter was the last U.S. President that opposed the death penalty. I didn't vote for him either.

I think that the death penalty should be a state decision and not the federal government! The federal government has to much say over everything these days and it goes outside the original constitution on how the government should be ran! Like education shouldn't not be a federal issue it is a state issue! Federal income tax is not constitutional on the founding documents of our nation said that the government can't tax our income!

Again we are taxed for nothing in turn, the states only have the right to tax there citizens. Alot has changed over the past 200+ years in the constitution and the powers held by our federal government! We need a president that will go back to the original principals of our constitution!!! Bush says "its only a god d*** piece of paper!" and that makes him the biggest jerk of this nation and I see that as treason! Our fore fathers made that "piece of paper" and it was the foundation that made this country what it is today!!!
Our country's founders cherished liberty, not democracy.

One of the things I really like about Paul is his common sense plan to stop providing foreign aid to enemy states. So much of it never ends up with the ones for whom it is intended.

I also looked at Hunter's platform and was quite dismayed to see that the very first one was about abortion and an amendment. I am anti-abortion personally, but I do not think that the US has any business mucking around in any incredibly personal and painful decision.Nor do I think it is a big issue for the American electorate in the election of a President--they are concerned about things like security and the national good.. He rambles on and on about it, as he does most of his following points. His stances on the war and immigration are listed separately, but many people would not realize that. I KNOW he built the fence, but I am very tired of having that be the first thing out of his mouth, just like Giuliani and 9/11.

I agree with whomever said that he was a lot of show but little go. I question his priorities and his sticktuitiveness.

Paul is short, sweet and to the point. And a bulldog. I did not think he was much of a contender in the beginning, but things are changing.

P.S. I am not interested in a debate about abortion--not the issue here.

You're obviously not following the same Duncan Hunter I am. Either that or your research has been extremely limited. Perhaps this will help:

    According to this site:

Hunter is the only candidate that supports actively deporting the millions of illegals currently in the U.S.

    Excerpt:

Rep. Duncan Hunter of California wants to deporting the millions of illegal immigrants now in the United States. He was also a sponsor of legislation authorizing construction of Mexico border fence. On his campaign Web site he says, "When you discover an effective deterrent to crime, you use it. I know fencing helps secure our nation's borders because criminal activity in every statistical category has been eliminated or decreased since we built the border fence in San Diego County."

There's much more, however, this should be enough to get your research started.

Thanks, MW--I got it from his campaign website, which should be the gold standard of his stance.

However, I am always open to re-education. I am not inspired by the top tier Repub candidates and the demos would be a joke, if it weren't so terrifyingly possible for one of them to win. Thanks for the links.
