A new poll from the Des Moines Register and Bloomberg shows Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker continues to hold a commanding lead in the early primary state of Iowa.
In the poll, Walker garnered 17% of support in the incredibly crowded GOP field, which was seven points more than any other candidate.
Ben Carson and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) tied for second, each receiving 10%. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush tied for third place, each with 9%.
The man who won the 2012 Iowa caucuses, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, came in sixth with 6%. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) also received 6%.
According to The Hill, Walker’s success can be attributed to a well-recieved speech in January:“Walker’s well-received speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit in January, where he recounted his battles against unions in Wisconsin, helped catapult him to the top of the field.”
While Walker is the clear frontrunner in Iowa, there has been no clear leader when it comes to national polling.
In the latest Quinnipiac poll, 5 candidates tied for the lead, with several more not far behind.
And according to RealClearPolitics, the top seven candidates are separated by less than 7 points.

Scott Walker is surging ahead because of his immigration promises to oppose immigration reform amnesty, which he stated a few years ago he supported when we were fighting to stop Rubio's amnesty legislation S. 744 tooth and nail.

His change of heart is a good thing (IMO), especially since it is drawing a lot of attention to the issue of immigration. There is plenty of time left to see if he stays on point. I'll be watching him closely but for now I will give him the benefit of doubt because of the special counsel he has taken from the likes of Sen. Sessions, Gov. Gregg Abbott, and other immigration hardliners.
