These people have deeply held emotional reasons for rationalizing their stay here. They took a chance using a temporary work visa as a stepping stone to immigration, and for many of them it worked, creating a strong sense of entitlement to immigrate. They also have egos as big as a jumbo jet, as they were told that they are smarter and more educated than Americans and that we are unable to make things work without them. Never mind that we were the world's leader in technology long before any noteworthy number of them showed up. If you mention that modern IT was largely invented in America, many of them will scoff in disbelief. If they take over, watch history get rewritten. I can't count the number of times I've been on their comment boards and seen our sovereignty discounted - they claim equal status to us (or better!) as if we had just gotten off the plane too. According to them, we have no right to limit their access to America.

Another example of how they see us, from the horse's mouth. This guy is a corporate leader being interviewed about his purchases of western companies by a famous online publication.

What is the rationale behind hiring local talent in the respective countries? Had that talent been good enough, these companies would not be the acquisition targets for you?

The main rationale for hiring local talent in the respective countries has been to get first-hand real-time experience of those local markets. We, as an Indian company gone global, have a strong manufacturing and process-driven orientation for higher productivity vis-Ă*-vis other overseas players in our domain — a quality that is characterised by the emerging economies of the east.

The ability to understand our competencies and accept our core strengths in our key areas, allow us to make an insightful and effective combination integrating manufacturing excellence with the superior knowledge of the consuming markets. At the same time, we also work on identifying key internal talent across the organisations, which could take on the challenges of the new paradigm.

We may think what we may think and laugh. When people have to move out they would move out in herds like they came even without waiting for a minute.Nobody need to tell them.

I have never understood the prevalence of the sentiment of needing to say something nasty about Americans who lose their jobs. When we take over a company, the talent is assessed and cherry picked. Nobody assumes the rank and file workers are at fault when a company is bought. That was a cheap shot on the interviewer's part. I guess it's pretty competitive in India, and people say we're cutthroat.

And as long as we're sharing links: http://www.rediff.com/money/2007/oct/23rupee-bpo.htm

In a way getting rid of call center BPOs is good for India and also USA. It did bad to them then good . as youth (who generally the majority .. join in BPOs) growth has become stagnant the moment they joined call center BPO. they are much better off in the other services industry than call ceter BPOs. I see they are the first vitims of raising Rupee as their margins are low in general.it is difficult for them to cope with raising rupee. More would fall in the line.

To understand the mentality of the people who came from other country you need to go and live in that country couple of years . Then you may get the glimpse of how they behave , otherwise it is very very difficult to get the grasp ..
