Thread: Great Idea OR Stupid Idea? YOU be the judge... OUR TWO CENTS

OK, I hope someone will take a moment to mull this one over in time for the weekend protest in Washington? Keep an open mind, after all someone traded a paper clip for a house....

Since all our elected officials understand is M-O-N-E-Y ...

WHAT IF,

All like minded Americans sent each of our elected officials in washington (including bush) a check for $.02 with the note reading " NO AMNESTY, ENFORCE OUR LAWS" or something to that effect? We would need to send them to the washington address of our elected officials to remind them WHO is paying their salary and we would be PAYING for their support, just like their corporate masters except we can send MILLIONS of 2 CENT checks all at once.

What does anyone think?

If anything these bloodsuckers owe us and the thought of one more cent out of our pockets to them, makes me literally cringe.

The problem with this plan is that most our people would rather send them a bill than a check.

I agree that sending more money seems abhorrent. Still, I like the idea of putting our "two cents worth" into the mix. They already get so much of our money anyway, and so many paid lobbyists are shouting into their ears, so tagging a tiny bit of money with a message makes sense. I'm going to do it anyway, see if they cash the check. Too bad it's going to cost me 41 cents to do it, but I think it's a great idea.

OK, I should also add that it will cost THEM more money to collect, process and cash the 2 CENT checks than it will for us to write them.

Remember that our government doesn't even want to accept pennies at toll booths so what do you think they will do with millions of 2 cent checks that they need to cash or shred?

Either way we will be paying for their time and they will be beholden to US for it just like their corporate masters.

They'll be cashing 'NO AMNESTY, ENFORCE OUR LAWS' checks and will need to account for the money AND the reason for the donations.

I don't think Craig is worth two cents, but if it gets a little attention then its a good Idea, but 2 cents to Craig, 2 cents to Crapo, 2 cents to Sali and 2 cents to Simpson, OMG thats 8 cents, four checks and $1.56 for stamps not to mention the envelopes!

May be we could send them all to one person and they can deliver them to their friends.

I think you are onto something though, it would be cheaper than bricks!!
