I've been thinking all day that if the people needing rescuing in New Orleans had been illegals, the job would have been done quickly because Fox-ee and his bloviating and meddling government "officials" would have had it no other way.

And Bush wouldn't have wanted to upset his best friend, either.

It's inhumane how the matter was mishandled!

I keep reading that 'this' or 'that'...looting, lawlessness, etc.... wasn't 'anticipated'...good heavens! Do none of them think beyond this minute?

You expect Bush and his cronies to think about anything else but themselves. Shame on you.

A top New Orleans police officer said Saturday that National Guard troops sat around playing cards while people died in the stricken city after Hurricane Katrina.
Guess we cant rely upon anyone other then the regular Army to help us in a disaster ...

The minute that hurricane hit, I knew there'd be animalistic looting. I find it astounding that everyone BUT the looters are being blamed.

That's because they were a bunch of drug addicts looking for a fix. It's not their fault. They're looking for something to take the edge off of their jones. Well at least that was what the New Orleans mayor said.

Since when is being on drugs excusable? Socially acceptable? Understandable? Looting to provide more drugs is simply forgiveable?

OMG..this is the most 'comfortable' nation in the world...we're provided for in case of need...there's always a safety net.

In India I've seen small children, I mean three year olds, out with little pails all day long trying to find something on the streets of value that would help to sustain the family. Thin and ragged, they go home to streetless hovels that have no sanitation, no running water.

Here, in this wealthy country, many people have nothing to do of importance so they sit around feeling sorry for themselves and popping drugs to 'ease thier pain.' Do I feel mercy for them? Not no, but HELL NO!!

Bullsmit, Brian. They raped and murdered an 8 YO girl and an 8 YO boy in the Astrodome bathrooms. Women had to be escorted by police and/or groups of males so they wouldn't be raped. The scene inside the Astrodome was far worse than the press made it out to be. Most of it didn't have a damned thing to do with drugs although there were crackheads smoking up when they should have been helping people survive. Despicable.

You're missing the sarcasm of my post. That was some of the bull that came out of the mayor of New Orleans big mouth. I believe what you are saying, and have heard many of the stories you mentioned. I have never heard of a disaster that has gotten so out of control like it has in New Orleans. The behavior by some of the citizens was beyond despicable, and there are no excuses for it. Normal civilized people do not behave that way.

I noticed you said the Astrodome, but were you referring to the Superdome in New Orleans? I know many were evacuated to the Houston Astrodome, but I never heard anything about rapes and murders happening in Texas.
