Hacked Memo Reveals Soros Funded Research on Critics of Radical Islam

August 15, 2016

A liberal think tank, founded by John Podesta (who is Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager) conducted “opposition research” on high-profile people who were raising awareness of radical Islam – and the project was heavily funded by billionaire George Soros.

More than 2,500 internal files were recently stolen from Soros’ “Open Society Foundations” and just published on a new website called DCLeaks on Saturday.

The Daily Caller reported that the memos released revealed the intent to target conservatives who were considered to be creating “Islamophobia”.

The “Open Society Foundations”, a non-profit group controlled by Soros, had published a document in 2011 titled, “Extreme Polarization and Breakdown in Civil Discourse,” naming well-known critics of radical Islam to be targeted for research. OSF executives were lamenting that progressive groups and members of Muslim and Middle Eastern communities “lacked high quality opposition research to combat anti-Muslim xenophobia and to promote tolerance.”

Therefore, the OSF decided to join forces with the Center for American Progress (CAP), founded by John Podesta, (who is now Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager), by funding a CAP project, called “Examining Anti-Muslim Bigotry Project.”

The Daily Caller reports that 2011 tax filings show that the Soros group, OSF, gave CAP an initial $200,000 grant, plus two others totaling $500,000.

Among the people CAP planned to “research and track” were Pamela Geller, Frank Gaffney, Robert Spencer, David Horowitz, Daniel Pipes, Cliff May and Liz Cheney.

CAP was founded by John Podesta in 2003 and has become one of the most powerful and influential think tanks during the Obama era, with a “revolving door between it and the administration,” state The Nation, in 2013. Podesta was chairman until he joined the Obama administration in December 2013.

While conservatives have blasted the Obama administration and other progressives who have heavily pushed the refugee resettlement project by importing thousands of Muslims into the United States, Soros is heavily funding efforts to suppress the outrage.

The OSF document stated:

“We need a clearer understanding of what by all indications is a well-orchestrated and well-financed system by which right-wring think tanks, pundits, and politicians are able to introduce false narratives and flawed research into the media cycle and use their misinformation to manipulate public opinion and thwart progressive counterterrorism policies.

“Just as critically, CAP will approach its work with an appreciation of the connections between the Islamophobia movement and related forms of xenophobia.”
