Anyone Get A Phone Call Like This?

If I had been fast enough, I would have gone further with this phone call.

I got an "out of area" phone call last night night where the lady asked, "Are you Hispanic?" I said, no, and she said "Thank you" and hung up. (I should have said, "yes," just to see what she wanted.)

What was that about? A sales call to Hispanics? Call to action from LULAC or La Raza? (The second I only wonder about as I live in Farmers Branch, and just got a survey in the mail to fill out about illegal immigration, I believe from Judicial Watch or CAPS, I'd have to look).

Have any of you gotten strange calls like this, where Hispanics are being targeted for something?

No I haven't, but everything seems targeted to them now so no big surprise. It was likely for some sort of survey or something. Do you have caller ID? Maybe get the # and call it back.

I do have caller ID, but it said "Out of Area," so no number was listed on it. "Out of Area" is typically how I know it is a solicitation call. Just picked up the phone too fast before I checked, or I would have ignored the call altogether.

Yes, I've had two of those and my name is not even remotely Hisapnic sounding.

Both times I could barely understand the caller, talked very fast and with a heavy accent.

This first one caught me off guard, when he asked if I was Hispanic I simply said NO and hung up.

The second time I said I'm not Hispanic, I'm American, and hung up rather forcefully.

It almost seems like a hassling ruse.

    Illegal criminals have connections

When we call SF, State Governor offices, and etc. they all have caller ID.

I received a call similar to the one the poster mentions.
They were asking me if I spoke spanish at home, watch spanish TV and sent me $30 bucks to write down the shows I watched for a week.
