Here’s where North Carolina ranks on the list of US ‘hate groups’

North Carolina ranks 11th in the nation in the number of organizations classified as hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center with 31, according to a report by the center.

In the Triangle, active groups listed by the report are the Ku Klux Klan, Nation of Islam (black separatist), The Daily Stormer (neo-Nazi) and Americans for Legal Immigration (anti-immigrant).

The report shows an anti-Muslim group in Fayetteville (ACT for America), a white nationalist group in Benson (Traditionalist Youth Network), and racist skinhead groups in North Carolina. It also includes Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, south of Hickory, as an anti-LGBT group.

The Charlotte area also has a presence of black separatists and neo-Nazis.

The report says Virginia has 42 hate groups, the fifth most in the country. White supremacists were at the center of protests Saturday in Charlottesville, Va., that prompted counterprotests and led to violence. One person was killed and 19 were injured when a man drove a vehicle into a crowd.

The most prevalent of the active hate groups in the nation last year were black separatists (193 groups) and Ku Klux Klan groups (130), the center reported.

The number of hate groups in each state generally correlates with its population.
California leads the list with 79, followed by Florida (63), Texas (55), New York (47), Virginia (42), Pennsylvania (40), Tennessee (3, Ohio (35), Illinois (32) and Georgia (32).

Hate groups in the United States grew in number from 457 in 1999 to a peak at 1,018 in 2011, the report said. The number dropped over the next three years, to 784, but as of last year had risen back to 917.

ALIPAC is not a hate group and I find it absolutely ludicrous that we're mentioned in the same breath as the Ku Klux Klan, Nation of Islam, and the neo-Nazi Daily Stormer's! Heck, the SPLC is more of a hate group than we are.

Many of the groups on the SPLC "hate map" do not exist or can't be tracked down. They have no office, phone numbers, emails, or website and in fact are not "groups" at all. All it takes is one guy in his mother's basement to post something online somwhere and the SPLC eagerly ads them to their "hate group" list to further their media attention and fundraising.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC and FAIR are not hate groups, the SPLC simply added the organizations that stopped Amnesty legislation for illegal aliens to their list and then made up ways to justify it.

It is a threat of violence carried by the SPLC because to falsly brand any person or group a hate group and force anyone into association with Nazis and KKK increases the chances you will lose a job, lose a spouse, lose your health, or lose your life to someone that believes this type of dark propoganda.

Americans for Legal Immigration PAC has always espaoused non-violence and racial inclusiveness through both word and deed. Unifying Americans of all races against illegal immigration is in our platfrom and has been repeated by me in hundreds of interviews.

We would never do anything intentionally that would offend or harm anyone, especially not based on their race and ethnicity.

But to the Alt-Left like the SPLC and ADL anyone that would oppose illegal immigration or Amnesty legislation will be attacked and labeled a "hate group"

We know that, THEY know that.

It's just they hope there are enough uninformed out there who will believe it.

I lived through the 60's Civil Rights Era and irresponsible rhetoric caused division that took years to heal. It made people look hesitantly at friends they had known all their lives wondering how they feel about them.

This nonsense is far and away more dangerous and insidious than that.
