Hillary Clinton tells Europe to reduce migration ‘as it has done its part’

In an interview with The Guardian, President Donald Trump’s former opponent in the 2016 US Presidential election weighs in on Angela Merkel and the European Union.
Former President Bill Clinton’s wife of 43 years said:
“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame.

“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic.”
It is no wonder if even Hillary Clinton thinks Europe needs to get a handle on migration why voters have turned to the populist anti-immigration parties.

Stupid GWB and the neocons and the militarists triggered the refugee crisis with the Iraq debacle. I get in a lot of discussion with local conservatives about this: New World Order, UN Agenda 21, US sovereignty.

I remember at the union hall just before the Iraq invasion---all of the veterans were wearing their caps! But this was NOT going to be Desert Storm 2.0! George Bush Sr. did the smart thing and the UN took over that show eventually (albeit badly, but much better than the long term outcome), and that should have been good enough. New World Oder (as per Bush Sr.) was not global governance. Agenda 21 has some good intentions in trying to reduce environmental catastrophes as Africa and Asia develop. However, US never has had to go along with the UN Agenda if they really don't want to. Still if UN can prevent Asia and Africa from being an even bigger pain in the butt why not?

Anyway we should not have had this multi million flood of refugees into Europe. Thanks to "bringing democracy to Middle East."

Hillary Clinton Says Europe Needs to Cut Immigration to Kill Populism

Failed U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has said Europe should send signals that it will cut immigration, in order to combat the rise of populist parties.

In an interview with Britain’s left-wing newspaper The Guardian, Clinton said that while she admired “the very generous and compassionate approaches” taken on mass migration from the third world, “particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel”, globalist parties in Europe need to change tack in order to maintain voters’ confidence in centrist politics.
“[European politicians] must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able [to] continue to provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic,” she said.
Asserting that mass migration was “what lit the flame” of populist discontent with establishment parties across the West, Clinton told the paper: “There’s no doubt in my mind that Brexit was largely about immigration and the lies that were told by the Leave campaign.”

126 people are talking about this

People with patriotic political views are marked by their rejection of “freedom and responsibility”, the former first lady claimed, going on to characterise national conservatives as having “a psychological … yearning to be told what to do, and where to go, and how to live and have their press basically stifled and so be given one version of reality.”
While acknowledging that she lacked the ability to “fully understand” why right-wingers have been abandoning centrist politics, Clinton suggested they were attracted to “strength”, opining that there are not enough “awareness or reminders … about what that can lead to” currently in place.
She told The Guardian: “I think it’s as much psychological, maybe more than political, as to what people are yearning for. I mean, freedom is burdensome. It’s hard getting up and taking responsibility for yourself and trying to make all these decisions.”

189 people are talking about this

Admitting to still being “absolutely dumbfounded” by her defeat to Donald Trump in 2016, she also used the interview, which was published Thursday, to attack the President for using the issue of mass immigration “as a political device and as a symbol of government gone wrong”.
“There are solutions to migration that do not require clamping down on the press, on your political opponents and trying to suborn the judiciary, or seeking financial and political help from Russia to support your political parties and movements,” Clinton said.
The former New York senator was one of three “centrist heavyweights” The Guardian asked to weigh in on “the global rise of right-wing populism, and what can be done to stop it”, along with ex-UK prime minister and ‘New Labour’ architect Tony Blair, and the globalist former leader of Italy, Matteo Renzi.

CLINTON: EUROPE ‘NEEDS TO HANDLE ON MIGRATION’ TO HALT THE RISE OF RIGHT-WING POPULISTS

    Posted on November 23, 2018 by C S Brock

Clinton “I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think….

    Fox News
: Hillary Clinton has issued frank advice to European leaders: If you want to stop the rise of right-wing populists then get a handle on your immigration crisis.
Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, said during an interview with The Guardian that the one million migrants and refugees that have flooded into the European Union since 2015 have thrust immigration into the spotlight and fueled the rise of hard line leaders around the globe. And while she praised German chancellor Angela Merkel for her compassion, she cautioned that countries can’t leave the door open forever.
“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame,” Clinton said regarding the rise of right-wing populists like Hungary’s Viktor Orbán.
Clinton added: “I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic.”
Countries like Germany, Greece and Italy – which have been most affected by the influx of migrants – have argued that other nations throughout the region need to share in the burden. But the other countries, especially those in central and eastern Europe, have so far refused to help out.
Migration numbers have dropped precipitously from their height in 2015.
Clinton was one of three politicians interviewed by the Guardian, along with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, about the rise of right-wing populism and what center-left politicians are struggling to combat it.
The two former prime ministers both agreed with Clinton’s statement that the immigration issue was directly responsible for fueling the populist trend.
“You’ve got to deal with the legitimate grievances and answer them, which is why today in Europe you cannot possibly stand for election unless you’ve got a strong position on immigration because people are worried about it,” Blair said. “You’ve got to answer those problems. If you don’t answer them then … you leave a large space into which the populists can march.”
Clinton singled out President Trump’s use of immigration as an issue to rally his base of support on the campaign trail and as one of the reasons she lost to him in the 2016 presidential race.
“The use of immigrants as a political device and as a symbol of government gone wrong, of attacks on one’s heritage, one’s identity, one’s national unity has been very much exploited by the current administration here,” she said. “There are solutions to migration that do not require clamping down on the press, on your political opponents and trying to suborn the judiciary, or seeking financial and political help from Russia to support your political parties and movements.”
The three former world leaders also argued that right-wing politics was able to rise not just because it latched on to an anti-immigration agenda, but because of its disruptive style of politics that highlights divisions. Blair said that more mainstream politicians will struggle to get heard over the simple, emotional language used by populists and that they need to find a way to cut through the soundbites that make the headlines.
And while the three global figures said they believed that populism was near its peak and people were beginning to see its faults, none could pinpoint a reason why populist leaders have been so successful over the past few years.
“The whole American system was designed so that you would eliminate the threat from a strong, authoritarian king or other leader and maybe people are just tired of it,” Clinton said. “They don’t want that much responsibility and freedom. They want to be told what to do and where to go and how to live … and only given one version of reality.”
She added: “I don’t know why at this moment that is so attractive to people, but it’s a serious threat to our freedom and our democratic institutions, and it goes very deep and very far and we’ve got to do a better job of shining a light on it and trying to combat it.”

Hillary Clinton Urges Europe To Halt Immigration Wave She Helped Create

    Fri, 11/23/2018 - 06:58
    244 SHARES

After blaming everyone but herself for her embarrassing upset loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election, Hillary Clinton has finally admitted what millions of Americans have known for years now: Maybe Trump made some good points.

In an interview with the Guardian that has infuriated the "new face" of the Democratic Party that Clinton once purported to lead - ie, those "Democratic Socialist" millennials who celebrated the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - the former secretary of state and senator from New York said Western Europe needed to do something to lessen the flow of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa if it wants to stop the surging support experienced by anti-establishment and eurosceptic populist parties that have seized power in Hungary, Poland, Austria, Italy and elsewhere.

Clinton praised Angela Merkel for her "generosity" (Merkel recently walked back her earlier "open door" policy for migrants and many believe her handling of the crisis led to the drop in popularity for her party that inspired her not to seek a fifth term) before adding that the governments of Germany and others need to signal that they are "not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support."
"I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame," Clinton said, speaking as part of a series of interviews with senior centrist political figures about the rise of populists, particularly on the right, in Europe and the Americas.
"I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – 'we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support' – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic."
As a reminder, Europe has struggled with the arrival of more than 1 million migrants since 2015, prompting an anti-establishment backlash and straining social services at a time when stagnant economic growth and simmering debt crises were already contributing to record youth unemployment and stagnant growth throughout much of the Continent.
The greatest irony in Clinton telling Europe to get a handle on migration is the fact that, as secretary of state, the interventionist policies she advocated - which only helped aggravate civil wars in Syria and Libya - it was Clinton who was one of the causes of the refugee wave that started with the Arab spring several years ago and has only gotten worse since.
Clinton also urged other center-left figures in the West not to ignore the issues of identity and populist anger that she says helped contribute to her loss to Trump. The former first lady urged forces opposed to rightwing populism in Europe and the US not to neglect the concerns about race and identity issues that she says were behind her losing key votes in 2016. She accused Trump of exploiting the issue in the election contest – and in office.
"The use of immigrants as a political device and as a symbol of government gone wrong, of attacks on one’s heritage, one’s identity, one’s national unity has been very much exploited by the current administration here," she said.
"There are solutions to migration that do not require clamping down on the press, on your political opponents and trying to suborn the judiciary, or seeking financial and political help from Russia to support your political parties and movements."
Clinton's remarks elicited accusations of hypocrisy from those on the left, some of whom also pointed out that, once upon a time, Clinton and her husband advocated many of the same strong-border policies that President Trump is pushing today.

    Hillary Wakes Up on Immigration

Regarding only Europe, and not for any good reason.

    November 24, 2018
    By Peter Skurkiss

None other than Hillary Clinton has advised Western Europe "to do something to lessen the flow of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa."
But don't jump to conclusions. Madam Hillary has not undergone an epiphany similar to the one Saul encountered on the way to Damascus. The reason Clinton said this is not because the massive influx of these migrants has strained Europe's welfare system, increased violent crime, and seriously degraded the culture and life-styles of the countries in which these immigrants reside.
Rather it's because the introduction of over one million of these people from the Third World into Western Europe has given rise to populist parties across the continent. This is Clinton-speak for calling Europeans of a nationalist bent racist -- just as she doe to those of us in here in the States. The premise of Clinton's comments is that if the Europeans weren't backward in their thinking, so racist and xenophobic, she'd be jake with the immigration flow continuing.
It is correct to say that immigrant has been a key factor in the rise populism in Europe. But populism is only a symptom. The disease causing it is allowing in so many people who can't be assimilated and who come from an alien culture that is orders of magnitude backward to that of the West. To acknowledge this is to admit that diversity is not the strength it is said to be. Populism is also fueled by the fact that nobody asked the average European if they wanted this mass immigration into their communities. It was mandated by the ruling elite.

Like Obama, Hillary Clinton does not have near the intellectual horsepower her cheerleaders in the media attribute to her. However, she is smart enough to see that the influx of immigrants into Europe is not going to abate anytime soon on its own. This is because of a combination of demographics and economics.
The populations of the Middle East and Africa are rapidly increasing. Together they are the fastest growing region in the world.
From an estimate 140 million in 1900, Africa grew to a billion by 2010. The United Nations projects this will increase to 2.5 billion in 2050 and 4 billion by 2100. "Today, one out of six people on Earth live in Africa. These same projections predict that the proportion will be one in four in 2050 and more than one in three by 2100."As for Europe, it's population is rapidly aging and is slated to actually start shrinking in a few decades.
The demographic difference between Europe vs. the Middle East-African region is bad enough, but economics make it worse yet. The fact is that Africa and the Middle East are the poorest and least developed regions in the world. Apart from the pipe dreams of the likes of Bill Gates and bureaucrats in the European Union, there is no Marshall Plan that can raise the economic viability of Africa. Whatever economic gains that may happen will be over taken by a constant increase in the impoverished population.
All this can only mean one thing: Wealthy Europe will continue to attract millions from Africa and the Arab lands. Without immigration restriction, Europe will literally be submerged by these foreigners. Some argue that Europe has already passed the tipping point, but this assumes no change in the behavior of the native Europeans. And someone who thinks a change can (and will) happen is Ralph Peters.
In an opinion piece in the New York Post in 2006, Peters wrote that 'Eurabia' is a myth:
The notion that continental Europeans, who are world champion haters, will let impoverished Muslims immigrants they confine to ghettos take over their societies and extend the caliphate from the Amalfi Coast to Amsterdam has it exactly wrong.
The endangered species isn't the peace loving' Europeans lolling in his or her welfare state, but the continent's Muslim immigrants -- and their multi-generation decedents -- who were foolish enough to imagine that Europeans would share their toys.
The historical patterns are clear: When Europeans feel sufficiently threatened -- even when the threat is concocted nonsense -- they don't just react, they overreact with stunning ferocity. One of their more humane (and frequently employed) techniques is ethnic cleansing.
Peters also thinks that "Europe's Muslims are living on borrowed time,"' and "all predictions of Europe going gently into that good night are surreal." He even imagines a scenario where the U.S. will have "to go ashore in Brest, Bremerhaven or Bari to guarantee the safe evacuate Europe's Muslims," presumably back to the Middle East.
Is Peters correct? I don't know. But as the awakening of Hillary Clinton, a poster-child for diversity, shows, the current situation in Europe is unstable.
Something has to give, and soon. Strict immigration controls imposed now is the mildest and most commonsense remedy. If not, the scenario outlined by Ralph Peters may prove correct.
