    Texas Senator Bill Callegari

Got a nice letter back from one of my Texas Representatives Bill Callegari (R) today.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I got your letter regarding illegal immigration. I agree with your sentiment that more needs to be done to prevent people from illegally crossing our border. Immigration reform is an important issue in the upcoming legislative session, and I will continue working with other legislators to address this issue.

In your letter you mentioned Representative Berman's intention to file a bill regarding illegal immigration. Last session I worked with legislators to curb illegal immigration and crime in our state. For example, I voted for legislation enhancing the penalties for tampering with government documents such as those used by illegal immigrants.

You also offered some solutions for the problem of illegal immigration in our state. A bill was passed last session prohibiting public subsidies for businesses employing illegal immigrants. I voted for this bill to reduce the incentives for hiring illegal workers. Though steps have been taken to address the problem of illegal immigration, more must be done to halt the flow of illegal immigration and relieve the pressure of illegal immigrants residing in Texas.

I will certainly keep your comments in mind when immigration reform legislation comes up next session. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I always appreciate hearing from concerned constituents such as yourself. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or comments.

    Sincerely
    W.A. Callegari

I was actually impressed too. Thanks! He does represent me and I did vote for him so he should feel obligated to reply to what I said.

I will mention that in my next correspondence. It is a shame that some of the people we elect to state and federal offices don't feel they need to speak with us. Who do they think they represent?
