Thread: ICE to give 2 month grace period to IA who self deport

I just watched a news report on Telemundo where Julie Myers was explaining a new program that will give illegal alien felons, 2 months to get their things in order and leave the country. First, they will have to turn themselves in, and by doing that, they will avoid jail time while they wait to lose their case and get deported.

The upside for illegal alien felons is that they will be able to sell their stuff, make arrangements and leave under their terms within that 2 month time period. Of course open Border enabler Frank Sharry told Telemundo that he was opposed to that program and considered it an "insult" to intice illegal aliens to "self-deport".

Julie Myers is a woman with POWER it seems.

I think it's a good compromise, way more than fair. As long as they DO self-deport. Hope they get prints before they send them home.

Julie Myers is a VERY smart woman. If illegal aliens and their supporters are crying about the fact that illegal alien felons are being jailed and deported without them having arranged their affairs, then they should turn themselves in and avoid that hassle.

This program should be a talking point told by all those who support enforcement when answering the "humanity" argument given by the Pro-illegal enablers. I will try to find out more about this 2-month program so we can use it in future debates against those who use sob stories to push forward their anti-enforcement agenda.

Julie Myers, if I am not mistaken, only got her job because she is from a rich family that supported Bush. Two months to give these felons to sell their stuff and self-deport is one of the more stupid ideas coming out of this government. Is there going to be someone watching these people to make sure they don't self-deport from, say Arizona to North Carolina or Kansas?

Yes, there will be someone watching over them because once they turn themselves in, illegals will have a GPS device on their ankle.

I don't expect many will turn themselves in, but the fact that the program exists can be useful as a counter argument to the sob stories told by the opposition.

This is pretty much the Terry Anderson plan. I have heard him talk about supporting this approach.
