ICE: Offc of Detention & Removal

Seems to me this guy is either fighting an uphill battle or hasn't been very effective in his position. Perhaps we should be contacting him en masse as well to let him know just how important we feel his job/office is to the American People:

Acting Director, Office of Detention and Removal (DRO),
    John P. Torres

John P. Torres is the acting Director of the Office of Detention and Removal (DRO) for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) within the Department of Homeland Security.

DRO manages the detention of approximately 20,000 aliens on any given day throughout the United States, as well as the execution of more than 160,000 final order removals annually. In his role as acting Director, Mr. Torres oversees the work of nearly 3,900 employees, including over 3,000 law enforcement officers and 800 support personnel. Mr. Torres assumed his current position in July 2005.

Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Torres served as Deputy Assistant Director for Smuggling and Public Safety in the ICE Office of Investigations. His responsibilities included the programmatic oversight of ICE operations in the areas of Human Smuggling & Trafficking, Contraband Smuggling, Benefit Fraud, Identity Theft, Cultural Property Rights, Worksite Enforcement, Human Rights Violators, War Criminals and Public Safety (Gangs and Criminal Organizations) including Operation Community Shield, targeting violent street gang members.

From June 2003 to March 2004, he served as the Special Agent- in-Charge of the Newark ICE Office. The SAC office consisted of 250 special agents and staff throughout the State of New Jersey. SAC Torres oversaw ICE's participation in several major multi-agency investigations including Operation Falcon, an international child pornography investigation resulting in the arrests of over 1000 people internationally; and, operation Manpad involving the undercover purchase of surface to air missiles from international arms brokers for the purpose of downing American airliners.

Mr. Torres began his law enforcement career with the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) in 1986. He has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility, including serving on the inaugural staff of the Law Enforcement Support Center, serving as one of the first senior special agents of the National Security Unit in Washington D.C. Mr. Torres was the first INS agent assigned to FBI Headquarters International Terrorism Operations Section in the Osama Bin Laden Unit from 1997 to 2000. Mr. Torres led INS investigators in both Denver and Chicago before being assigned to Washington, DC to assist with the creation of ICE.

Contact info is very restrictive and can be found here:

Question: Why do so many of the people involved with the INS, ICE, DHS, and Border Patrol have HISPANIC surnames?

Maybe I've become paranoid and obssessive, but I think it may not be merely a coincidence or merely being bilingual. I think there is a reason for this...like perhaps loading up these "enforcement" groups with people sympathetic to the illegals.

I confess I have wondered the same thing....but I tried to remain objective and assumed that perhaps since they have the cultural edge, being of that ethnicity, they may have a better understanding of what is required to do the job. I want to believe this...

Well Denver and Chicago are over-run with illegals so I guess he didn't do a good job. Plus...Chicago is as corrupt as it gets so that's a major black mark against him right off as far as I'm concerned.
