The 10 Dumbest Things Nancy Pelosi Has Said (Lately)

Coming up with a list of dimwitted things the Democratic minority leader has spoken is easy — but narrowing it down is the real challenge

by Jim Stinson | Updated 09 Feb 2018 at 8:14 AM

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) could be the next speaker of the House of Representatives — if she can manage her gaffes, that is, which doesn’t seem likely.

The Democratic leader set a House record Wednesday for continuous speech. She talked from 10:04 a.m. to 6:11 p.m. to propound her view of why America must grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, known as dreamers — for the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act — who were brought here as children.

House Republicans were reportedly delighted that Pelosi spoke so long, as they believe the more she talks, the more Americans remember why they booted her and her party out of control of Congress in the 2010 midterm election, considered the “Tea Party election.” Pelosi was speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011.

Pelosi has a long record of making dumb remarks that she genuinely appears to believe. There are so many to choose from, but here are LifeZette’s top 10:

1.) In 2013, Pelosi told Fox News’ Chris Wallace that spending wasn’t a big deal, and it could be offset by raising taxes. But in explaining her belief, she said, “It’s almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem.” Almost false? Just four years later, the national debt is $20 trillion.

2.) Pelosi is bad with numbers and names, often calling President Donald Trump “President Bush.” In 2009, while pushing a stimulus bill to counter the recession, Pelosi said, “Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.” At the time, the U.S. had just over 300 million residents.

3.) Pelosi sold Obamacare big time — and she did so before its full implementation in 2012: "And everybody will have lower rates," she told NBC's "Meet the Press," speaking of premiums.

4.) But the next year, the National Republican Congressional Committee noted she defended the fallout from Obamacare at a press briefing: "I don't remember saying that everybody in the country would have a lower premium."

5.) Pelosi compared Obamacare to the Declaration of Independence in 2013, as she headed off to celebrate July Fourth: "We will also be celebrating health independence ... It captures the spirit of our founders." Ugh.

6.) Pelosi is a masterful race-baiter. In September 2017, she compared dreamers to Japanese-American citizens who were forced into temporary internment camps during World War II: "While their family members were fighting for freedom for America and for the world, they were in camps. And they came for them. And now they are coming for the dreamers."

7.) Pelosi loves to spend tax dollars. In September 2013, during a debate on cutting the federal government's $4 trillion budget, she said,"The cupboard is bare. There is no more cuts to make."

8.) In April 2017, Pelosi attacked Trump for proposing a border wall on the southern border, even though she voted for the Border Fence Act of 2006. She told NBC News' Chuck Todd: "The president ... is expressing a sign of weakness. He's saying, 'I can't control our borders. I have to build a wall.'" So it wasn't a sign of weakness when Pelosi voted for it in 2006?

9.) Pelosi's most infamous quote came in 2010, when she defended the way Democrats rammed Obamacare through Congress: "We have to pass the bill for you to find out what's in it." Maybe just release the text?

10.) And the quote that is sure to haunt Democrats in this year's midterm election is Pelosi's cavalier dismissal of $1,000 and $2,000 bonuses that legions of American workers are getting as a result of Trump's tax reform: "In terms of the bonus that corporate America received versus the crumbs that they are giving to workers to kind of put the schmooze on is so pathetic ... I think it's insignificant."

Pelosi and her husband, Paul, are themselves quite rich — with a net wealth estimated at $43 million, according to opensecrets.org. Crumbs indeed!

The Face Of The Democratic Party!

It is an indication of how bankrupt our leadership is when this dingbat is the best they can find as their leader. An imbecile from the most disconnected, un-American, loony district in the country.

Really, do you expect the people in her district to elect a sensible representative?
