    Trump Down in Rasmussen Poll

White House Watch: Clinton 42%, Trump 38%, Johnson 9%, Stein 2%

    Thursday, August 25, 2016

The e-mail scandal and new accusations about the Clinton Foundation may be bedeviling Hillary Clinton, but Donald Trump appears unable to capitalize on them.

The latest weekly Rasmussen Reports White House Watch shows Trump losing ground: Clinton now holds a 42% to 38% lead among Likely U.S. Voters, up slightly from the 41% to 39% advantage she held a week ago.

In the latest survey, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson again captures nine percent (9%) of the vote, while Green Party candidate Jill Stein picks up two percent (2%) support. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Trump’s support remains in the 30s for the second week in a row, down from a high of 44% in mid-July. Support for Clinton has remained in the narrow 41% to 44% range for the last six weeks.

Clinton has 79% of the Democratic vote, while 76% of Republicans support Trump. The GOP nominee continues to hold a small lead among voters not affiliated with either major political party. Johnson draws nearly equally from both major parties and earns 20% of the unaffiliated vote.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on August 23-24, 2016 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Clinton hasn’t had a formal press conference since late last year, largely avoiding media questions for the entire primary season. Trump’s routine press conferences often seem to do him more harm than good. But 82% of voters think it is important for the major presidential candidates to hold regular press conferences to answer questions from reporters.

Trump and Clinton are now virtually tied among male voters, while Clinton holds a nine-point advantage among women.

The Democrat leads by 15 points among those under 40, while the two are tied among older voters.

Whites still prefer Trump, while Clinton has an enormous lead among blacks and a double-digit advantage among other minority voters.

Most voters support Trump’s plan for temporarily restricting immigration from countries with a history of terrorism and for testing to screen out newcomers who don’t share America’s values.

Trump says he would put an end to “nation building," a term that in recent years has been used to describe stepped-up efforts to establish democracies in the Middle East by use of the U.S. military and U.S. taxpayer dollars. Few voters believe the government's nation-building efforts have been a success, and most agree with Trump that they should be ended.

Clinton, after long supporting the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), has now joined Trump in rejecting the free trade agreement between the United States and 11 other Pacific Rim countries. Few voters have a favorable opinion of the TPP, but Republicans and unaffiliateds are more critical of it than Democrats are.

Americans remain skeptical of so-called “free trade,” and most believe the U.S. government doesn’t do enough to protect businesses here from overseas competition.

He had such a great week in his rallies. Great speeches, fantastic guests, amazing crowds, perfect messages, reaching out to black Americans and Latino voters with roars of support from his audience, he should be soaring. But the media was obsessed all week with the possible shift on immigration, calling him a flip-flopper, a fraud, a con-man, accusing him of letting his base down, and lying during the primary, all based on 10 or 11 Kellyanne Conway interviews that I know of starting on Sunday and continuing at least through yesterday.

He also lost his lead he had gained in the LA Times USC Poll. There is nothing to be gained by this type of confused messaging. Trump is just listening, he hasn't shifted, he might, but he hasn't yet, but for a week thanks to Kellyanne's horrible interviews, the headlines and talk heads all accused him anyway, even though he said he hadn't and was just listening to voters on the issue.

Kellyanne is a Trojan Horse, you have to get her off the television and get her out of control of your campaign. For some reason she's ordered a cut-off of ticket sales early to your rallies and removes the rally from the website before it's occurred so if people are looking it up to watch your rally on Live Stream, the information they need is no longer there, so this will also impact your views of your rallies. Also, the cameras on RSBN are now panning the crowds only to see the lights on the top rows turned off so you can't see the crowds packed to the rafters, because it's too dark.

You're being set-up to fail by Kellyanne Conway. You must get rid of her. She is also the likely "source" speaking to the Media anonymously about your internal campaign activities.

This won't do, you need to take action on her right away and rehire Corey. in my opinion.

I do not believe the polls.

And, a huge portion of the Trump supporters haven't either nether voted or hasn't voted in years and not
included in any of the pollster calls

I don't believe the network polls but I thought the LA Times and Rasmussen Polls were pretty good, so I still feel like they are a reflection of what's going on. He has this great 2 weeks, and he goes way up on both LA Times and Rasmussen, then Kellyanne goes on television with her "TBD" crap for 5 days and the media runs with it all week calling him a con man, a fraud, a flip-flopper, someone you can't trust, and he falls in both of these polls.

Hopefully, now that his stance is clarified, he'll go back up but what a shame it was for her to do this to him. She's supposed to be a top pollster, this is supposed to be her expertise, and she bombed. If she is a great pollster, then she knew exactly what she was doing and was doing it deliberately to hurt the Trump Train. Simultaneously, Ted Cruz comes out with an "I told you so", even though as we who actually watched the whole interviews know, there has been no change in Trump's immigration policy. That is also the same 2 days that Cruz submits an anti-illegal immigration bill into Congress?!! Oh puleeze, this was all orchestrated by Kellyanne Conway.

Most people consider these professional pollsters to be honest people. Now we know they aren't.

The whole industry is now suspect. Between what she did and what the MSM has done with their polls, what Reuters did with changing their methodology in the middle of a US Presidential race, no one trusts the business any more with good and valid reasons.

And that is a real shame, a tragedy, because Americans enjoy the polls and candidates rely heavily on them, but unless you do your own, as you say, no one can believe in them any more.

    SAD!
