Van Hollen Town Hall debriefing
I am back from tonight's town hall and I am disappointed that I was not selected to speak. I wont go so far as to claim that they had shills or that they chose questioners based on reactions to the Rep.'s policy statements, but I know I was in the minority opinion on many issues there tonight. I will give the congressman the credit of saying that he is a commensurate politician and good speaker, but I am afraid he hasn't got a clue... I was happy that at least he addressed the lack of and need for border security issue first, but he made the same bleeding heart arguments for not deporting (will break up families...will cost too much...inhumane). He never addressed the issue of penalties for employers and I was beginning to feel like a kindergartner wiggling my hand to be called on. I desperately wanted to get him on the record on that count. I was surprised, being in a predominantly liberal democratic C.D., to hear applause at many of the stricter approaches to the problem. So, I guess what I have to report is that I have nothing of consequence to report. More of the same from the Hill. I wore a tie and everything!!!
