Excellent post Betty! You have pointed out the potential silver lining in all this....
Thanks. I just hope that I am correct and amnesty goes nowhere.

For obama, this isn't about helping Americans on this healthcare bill. It is about his legacy, his historical value. To h*ll with hard working Americans, he wants his way and to be remembered as the great one.

he and nancy want this to prove they are supreme.

The fact is, a majority of Americans voted for change in DC.

The fact is, a majority of Americans are for various parts of this health care bill.

The fact is, a majority of Americans want health care refrom.

    I think the bill stinks.

We should have a single payer plan. Just expand Medicare to cover all Americans.

But this bill is better than nothing.

Republicans offered nothing, but the same obsolute, corrupt system we have now that rewards insurance companies and no one else.

Obama is right to push this through.

At least it is a start on health care reform.

    Some interesting comments:

I think they will get the h/c passed and then tackle the amnesty bill next so that those who will be rewarded for breaking immigration laws will be able to take advantage of low cost or free medical insurance. Once the H/C passes, they will probably have a program to import doctors from Mexico and we will see Mexican clinics everywhere. Just a guess.

I don't see the point of your comment, Bettybb, because it is also a fact that the majority of Americans do not support the health care bill! Heck, I supported a portion of the last amnesty bill but that didn't mean I supported an amnesty for illegal aliens.

The fact is, a majority of Americans want health care refrom.

That's an opiinion that most Americans would disagree with.

I don't want something from the government that will suck what's left of my savings out of the bank faster than a cocaine dealer. What happens then? The IRS goes back to mafia style extortion tactics and then throws me in the slammer? No thankyou.

I don't want government healthcare as it makes me and every other American even more beholden to the will of government. Especially against my will.

There I disagree. Many progressive Dems were against this bill, myself included, because it was not a single payer plan. Also, many Dems and Independants were against it because of cost. In the last couple of days the Congressional Budget Office has come out and confirmed it is a huge deficit reducer. Also, many Dems opposed it because of the abortion issue, that has now been resolved.

All these anti groups, when faced with an all or nothing choice, just like me, are saying, well it is better than nothing.

The fact is, there was the same uproar when Medicare went through. All the terrible things Repubs said would happen, just did not turn out to be true. I think the same thing is going to occur with this health care reform bill, though all the benefits really won't become apparent for many years.

The fact is, we are already in that situation. This bill, in the long run, will reduce our costs.

    1. Your taxes already pay for Medicare
    2. Your taxes already pay for medical care for veterans.
    3. Your taxes already pay for those who cannot afford it.
    4. Your taxes already subsidize so called "private insurane" that appears to be provided by employers, though tax breaks for companies.

So all that has happened, is the socialist system we already have, partyly direct government payments, partly indirectly government subsidizes is being made more cost effecitve.

The Hispanic Caucus has always supported the heath Care bill so there is no change there.
