    Immigration Is About People

Doris was probably the first illegal immigrant I ever met. She had left El Salvador when she was 12 fleeing the violence caused in part by US funded terrorists. She, her sister and 16 year old brother crossed Guatemala and Mexico and found their way, somehow, to California. She eventually graduated from high school but never went on to further her education. She only learned to drive last year (she's about 30 years old now). I always thought she had more potential and brains than she gave herself credit for.

Her older sister didn't respond to the stress as well as Doris; she ended up mentally ill and lives in the streets of San Salvador. Doris ended up taking care of her sister's two children and loved them as if they were her own. She only recently got married herself and is trying to have children of her own.

I heard last month that she finally became a US citizen. This shows just how generous our government is to permit this scum to live here and even grant her citizenship even though she is deserving of nothing better than spending eternity in HELL!!!!

Your tale was touching. Was it true?

Is your last paragraph an editorial comment? Or was it tongue-in-cheek?

Quit playing with us man ... we've been rather patient. You obviously have an axe to grind so what is it?

    Waiting ....

P.S. With a name like Emiliano, I doubt Doris is the first immigrant you've ever met. Just where are you from and why are you here? Let's stop playing in the shadows and lay our cards on the table. We can handle it. You bet we can. But we'll still stick to our belief that illegal immigration MUST be dealt with ... for the sake of OUR country. It's too bad El Salvador has problems .. we have our own .. but we don't ship our problems off to other countries.

Gloria is another example. Also from El Salvador, I don't know the details of when she first showed blatant disregard for our laws by illegally crossing the border. I met her a few years ago when she was still illegal. After the earthquakes in El Salvador, the US granted Temporary Protected Status to Salvadorans permitting them to live and work in the US. Gloria doesn't have a job though (typical).

She runs her own business. She abuses her body everyday cleaning houses. She has more business than she can handle, and whenever someone from church loses a job they can always get some work from Gloria and make ends meet. One of my co-workers uses Gloria's services and is always impressed by her work whether Gloria cleans it herself or one of her employees.

She is also the chief of Sunday school at church. The pastor is one of those health and wealth preachers, and the only time the gospel and the love of God is truly heard at our church is in the Sunday school. She's very serious about it and has attended conferences and reads manuals about running an effective Sunday school program. We call her "The Sergeant" because she yells a lot, but the kids know that she loves them.

One time a family had become homeless. Gloria encouraged a lot of people to help them by taking them out the dinner, to the grocery store, inviting them to parties, petitioning the church leaders to pay their rent and even arranged for people to give them a ride to church when their vehicle wasn't working. Gloria spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas not with her family but with other immigrants who didn't have any family in the area.

The US is generous enough to permit this demon deserving of Hell to live here. There are millions just like her that are turning our once beautiful country in to a third world trash heap. This has got to stop!!!!!!

    Emiliano,
You seem to be having a problem with the 'illegal' part. You also seem totally oblivous to the stats on 'illegals'...at least 25% of them are felons.
    Many others are diseased.

You seem to forget that 1,000's of illegals have lived here for years without disruption to their lives while living here. They hopefully have prospered. Now, however, there are too many, wanting too much, too often. We cannot sustain that sort of population growth.

You might stop frothing at the mouth long enough to realize that if this ship goes down...ALL of us are in it...the US, generous as it is, accepting legally immigrated people of every color and stripe, every day of every year...simply will cease to exist. Take care with the slobbering..someone will think you totally mad.

    Emiliano,

We are not racists. That is what you appear to be. If you want to spew your verbal diarrhea, that's fine. Just don't bring down this site by trying to have it associated with racist views.

I think Emiliano is trying to toy with us. He doesn't really think these people are scum .. he's just baiting us to see if anyone will agree with his not-so-nice characterizations.

Well, Em... Gloria sounds like a hardworker .. like most of us. It's not our country's fault that her education and therefore skill level isn't higher so that she can't do more than housekeeping but at least she is working and not living off the system. That is .. if your story is true.

And if someone falls into his trap, he will 'cut and paste' the link, post it on La Raza, Mecha, and all the other anti-illegal immigration websites, forever labelling us a racists.

    Here's ANOTHER story:
About 15 years ago I was leasing some acreage to a Mexican.
In due course we became acquainted enough that he told me his story.
He had walked across the border while still a young man...I believe he said he walked for three days. Arriving safely here he established a bit and married an American Mexican. They had five children.

Because he was here, married to an American, he was able to bring his parents here. Because they were here, they were able to bring their other children here (6 of them). Then they, in turn, were able to bring their spouses and children here.

The parents were fairly well off in Mexico, but they had health problems. The father had serious heart disease ( he died about ten years after moving here) the mother and two of the children had diabetes. They came here, and openly admitted this, because of the free health care they could receive here. They are certainly doing that. Several family members are visiting doctors, having tests, being hospitalized on a weekly basis. Meanwhile their assets in Mexico still exist and are being protected by our health system.

The man in question has since naturalized. The rest of the family has not.
Due to this circular immigration policy that we have, this one man walking across our border has been responsible for bringing in 400 persons. Yep, almost his entire village is here now.

And those are some of the major problems we acquire with illegals walking across the border.

I do not believe we, here at alipac, have ever felt that everyone who is coming here, even those who come illegally, are scum. SOME obviously are as demonstrated by the large number of reports of illegals involved in serious criminal activity.

What you are trying to do is quite clear. You are trying to imply that this Doris you described is what we here would call scum. I would not, nor do I think most anyone here would. I suspect you wish to plant such ignorant ravings on our board with the intention of then getting others to see it and label us as a bunch of racists who think poor people from Central America are scum.

It is a nice attempt, but we would love to have Doris come to our country legally. We just wish for our laws to be respected, as we would be expected to respect the laws of their country. We treat mexicans, and others, a hell of a lot better when we catch them breaking our laws, than Americans would be treated if we broke theirs.

We do not, in spite of your attempt to characterize us as such, view it as the sides being divided up between "Americans or scum" and instead view it as a case of "Legal to be here vs illegal to be here".

If you truly think in the manner you state, then I am sure there are other places where such nazi BS would be welcome. I do not believe you really think that way, I think you are an agent provocatuer.. and in either case, I think you are in the wrong place.

    Nice try, Compadre
