Immigration Expert Krikorian: White House ‘Surrender’ on Budget Deal Is ‘Betraying People Who Supported’ Trump

by Dan Riehl 3 May 2017

Mark Krikorian, Executive Director, Center for Immigration Studies spoke with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Wednesday regarding the recent budget deal, which lacks border wall funding.

Asked what he thought of the border security issue as addressed by the budget deal, Krikorian said, “I think it was a surrender on the part of the president. There’s a good reason that Schumer and Pelosi are crowing about how they won on this because they did.”

While discussing the immigration issue in depth, added Krikorian, “There is the sense that in a lot of ways on immigration, the White House is now betraying people who supported him.”

Breitbart News Daily airs on SiriusXM Patriot 125 weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Eastern.

From everything I've seen and heard so far, I tend to agree this budget is an overall win for the Democrats.

It passed the House 309-118. Over 100 Republicans voted against it. It will be voted on by the Senate tomorrow or before the weekend when they start an 11 day break.

So that means almost all the Democrats voted for it. That alone should tell us this was a big win for the Democrats!

Oh yeah, it was a definitely a win for Democrats, this is the Obama 2017 Budget, but it's a win for the people because Trump wielded his weight after the election and demanded a change to be involved in it, otherwise this budget would have been passed in December before he was inaugurated. And by doing what he did, he got some more money for border security, more money for the military without a match-up on domestic spending, helped the miners, and stopped the insurance company subsidies for Obamacare. There's other little goodies in there also, so I'm fine with it. It's better with Trump having been elected and getting involved with it, than if he hadn't been and this budget would have been passed in December, without his contributions.

It seems you're already having a problem with winning. You remind me of the football player that intercepts the ball and then runs it in for a touchdown at the wrong end of the field.

If you call this Ryan budget a win, I'd hate to see your idea of a lose. Of course I fully expected you to spin the budget to make Trump seem more involved than it actually seems like he was. When the going got tough, Trump faltered.

Well, I just tell you the facts. This budget is Obama's 2017 budget, not Trump's. This budget was going to be voted on in December, but Trump intervened during the transition and lobbied for it to hold over until after he was inaugurated so he could "weigh in". He weighed in and got some stuff. How is not that a win? A win is getting something by doing something that if you hadn't done something you wouldn't have. That's how business works. Oh ... maybe that's the problem, you don't understand how business works? Is that the Great Divide?!!

    Mebbe so.

Unfortunately, truth be told, he didn't get much more than would have been written into the budget anyway. When it actually came time to fight for what he wanted ....... well, the proof is in the pudding.

Then what's your problem and why are you carrying on about it? This is the FY 2017 Budget that was supposed to be finished last year and signed into law by Barack Obama. This is Obama's budget, not Trump's. Trump's first budget will be FY 2018 coming up. I see it as a plus because we got some needed money for military, stopped increases for Obamacare insurance provider subsidies, and got $1.6 billion more in border security including funding for more judges to process deportations and BP agents, the largest increase in border security in over a decade.

But hey, I don't want to deter your Hate on Trump, Cut Off Your Nose to Spite Your Face, Shoot Yourself in the Foot Movement. So please do, carry on. It's actually providing some entertainment of late.
