Conservative Latino groups plan to go after Trump, Cruz prior to next week's CNBC debate

Things are going to get a little testy next week prior to the CNBC debate in Boulder, Colorado. A coalition of top Latino conservative activists will be meeting on the eve of the debate… and they will have words for GOP candidates that speak out against immigration reform.

From the Washington Post:
The activists plan to meet on Oct. 27 in Boulder, Colo., the day before GOP presidential candidates meet in the same city for a debate hosted by CNBC. Plans for the “unprecedented gathering” have been in the works for several weeks, according to organizers, who shared the details first with The Washington Post.

Attendees will be “the people and organizations the RNC and GOP campaigns count on to engage the Latino electorate,” said Alfonso Aguilar, head of the American Principles Project’s Latino Partnership and a lead organizer of the meeting. “We’ll discuss the tone of the primary, comments about the Hispanic community and some of the immigration proposals that have been made.”

After the meeting, the group plans to hold a news conference to “identify several candidates that will not have our support and who we are certain that if they become the GOP nominee will not get enough Latino voter support to win the general election,” Aguilar said.

This meeting will feature some of the most influential Latino minds in the conservative movement, including Alfonso Aguilar, Director of American Principles Project’s Latino Partnership, representatives from the LIBRE Initiative, Mario H. Lopez, president of the Hispanic Leadership Fund, Rosario Marin, former U.S. treasurer, Massey Villareal, the former chairman of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and many more.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Will they go after Donald Trump? What aboutSen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%?

Will they promote Jeb Bush’s immigration plan?

I guess we’ll find out.

  • cdrguru • a day agoFrom my experience, the folks that stood in line and often waited years to immigrate to the US legally have no interest in dealing with the illegals and anyone advocating for them. So anyone that is pro-illegal is unlikely to have a legal immigration experience. While the Left is all for getting as many Hispanics on board for voting as possible - legally or otherwise - the actual legal voters are likely not to be in favor of open borders.
    The question is going to be if the Left can secure the votes of the illegals, voting illegally, and get these votes counted. I suspect the answer is yes.


    • helmsconservative cdrguru• 19 hours agoYou are exactly right. My wife is an immigrant, although not Hispanic. We have lots of friends who are immigrants. They all bristle when someone wants to lump illegal aliens into the same category as immigrants who went through all the proper procedures to come to America. The politicians that they all oppose are those who want to cut any corners for the illegal aliens who have crashed our borders. Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush are two they are particularly distainful of.

  • snufalufagus • a day agoexactly, I HATE how the entire media seems to lump ALL HISPANICS together as if they were one monolithic block with the same exact opinion-(open borders or else!!).
    it is total BS, there are TONS of Hispanic americans who OPPOSE open borders and the leftist agenda because they are americans like anyone else and are not 'the same thing' as an illegal foreign immigrant like the media likes to imply endlessly.
    its simple- is your loyalty to America, or is it to foreign nationals-at the expense of americans? if it is the latter, then you are a traitor. it really is that simple.
