Ind. office raided in growing voter fraud case

Indiana State Police raided a voter registration agency in Indianapolis, as an
investigation into voter registration fraud has expanded into nine counties in all.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police investigators on Tuesday searched a voter registration agency on Indianapolis' north side as they look into a voter fraud case that spans nine counties.

The investigation began in late August when police learned of the filing of fraudulent voter registration forms in Marion and Hendricks counties.

The investigation has expanded from Marion and Hendricks counties to include Allen, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Johnson, Lake and Madison counties, according to a statement from State Police.

Police said the growing number of involved counties leads investigators to believe that the number of fraudulent records might be in the hundreds.
The possible fraudulent information is a combination of fake names, addresses and dates of birth with real information.

As part of the expanded investigation, State Police detectives served a search warrant for the business offices of the Indiana Voter Registration Project in the 2400 block of North Meridian Street.

The search warrant was served Tuesday morning, police said. The results of the search are not being released, and the affidavit and search warrant will remain sealed for 30 days.

"An investigation of this nature is complex, time consuming and is expected to continue for several more weeks or months," said a State Police statement. "Victims of the activities by some agents of the Indiana Voter Registration Project may not discover they have been disenfranchised from voting until they go to vote and realize their voting information has been altered. Such action may result in the citizen having to cast a provisional ballot."

Officials said a representative sample of voter registration applications received by county voter registration offices and suspected of being fraudulent have been copied and provided to investigators. The original applications are maintained by the appropriate voter registration office.

Craig Varoga, president of Patriot Majority, said because the IVRP has been specifically referenced in a statement from Secretary of State Connie Lawson, the investigation could impede the processing of the 45,000 voter registration cards that have been completed through the organization across the state.

The IVRP uses quality-control procedures to catch issues with voter registrations. Varoga said any of the applications that have been earmarked as fraud were already earmarked by the IVRP as incomplete or incorrect.

For example, if someone transposes digits in a phone number or forgets to fill out their ZIP code, the canvasser cannot complete that information for them, Varoga said. That card would then be flagged before being turned over to the local clerk's office.

"If they transpose a number and that’s inaccurate, that’s a mistake," he said. "That’s not fraud."

Varoga said he does not know the status of those 45,000 applications but said the seizure of cellphones and laptops during Tuesday's search warrant impedes the organization from further registering people to vote before the Oct. 11 deadline.

Varoga said State Police have been coordinating with the secretary of state's office, which he said became clear because of the timing of Lawson's statement and the onset of the State Police investigation. He said the investigation is a partisan effort "designed to make it harder to vote in this election."

He also said investigators seized personal cellphones during the search and denied staff the opportunity to contact an attorney, then told them that if an attorney were contacted, a state trooper had to be present. When an attorney did arrive, Varoga said, he was denied access to the office.

Tuesday's search and details of the investigation have been reported to the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division, he said.

"It's an abuse of state resources, and it is a waste of taxpayers' money," he said. "It is outrageous what they are doing."

Valerie Warycha, director of communications for the secretary of state's office, said the office was briefed about the investigation by State Police when it began but has not since been updated.

The only reason the secretary of state's office issued a statement was because it wanted voters to be aware of the possibility of altered registrations, Warycha said.

“We came out because we wanted Hoosiers to know that there were altered and falsified registrations out there, and we wanted Hoosiers to know how to protect themselves," she said.

The involvement of a State Police trooper who is interested in running for sheriff in Johnson County as a Republican causes concern, Varoga said.

State Police Capt. David Bursten said the trooper in question was involved in the initial stages of the investigation but was not involved in Tuesday's search warrant.

That trooper has only formed an exploratory committee, Bursten said, and he still has until January to declare his candidacy. In that case, he would be removed from parts of the investigation that would involve Johnson County.

"There is nothing criminal or illegal or immoral about him being part of the investigation," he said.

Bursten said the complexity of the investigation likely means that the work will continue until well after the November elections.

“We wouldn’t still be investigating if we weren’t still finding issues that are indicative of fraudulent acts," he said.

Bursten also denied that there was any coordination between State Police and the secretary of state's office and refuted the claims that the IVRP lawyer was not allowed to be present as the search was conducted. Cameras and phones were seized because the search warrant included electronic devices, he said.

“This is not the secretary of state’s investigation. This is Indiana State Police’s investigation," he said.

In light of the investigation, police are urging voters to visit indianavoters.in.gov to confirm that they are properly registered.

If voters discover inaccurate information that indicates they could be a victim, they should contact their local voter registration office and the 24-hour Indiana State Police Voter Registration Application Fraud tip line at (88 603-3147.

It's such a shame to see our elections impacted by voter fraud. We know it's going on but authorities have ignored it for years. I'm glad to see Indiana State Police doing their jobs. I hope other states get busy and do theirs too. When you steal an election, you're stealing our country.

Indiana Police Raid Democrat-Connected Voter Registration Project

Indiana Police Raid Democrat-Connected Voter Registration Project

    6 Oct 2016

Indiana State Police raided the offices of Indiana Voter Registration in downtown Indianapolis, a group run by longtime Democratic operative Craig Varoga.

The raid was part of an ongoing investigation which originally started in two counties and has now spread to nine: Hendricks, Marion, Allen, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Johnson, Lake, and Madison counties.

As TV station Fox 59 reports:

State police say an investigation of this nature is complex, time consuming and is expected to continue for several more weeks or months.
“Some people are having the incorrect names, with incorrect addresses, or the correct names with incorrect addresses, or the correct names with incorrect date of birth and that will come to play, if you go to vote, they’re not going to let you vote,” said ISP Sgt. Rich Myers.

Liberal journalism site Raw Story contacted Patriot Majority USA President Craig Varoga, who gave them the following statement about the recent raid:

After all is said and done, when this partisan investigation finds no wrongdoing by the organization, Connie Lawson and the Indiana State Police will have prevented 45,000 African Americans from voting in this year’s elections. That is why today we reported their outrageous actions to the Department of Justice.

Varoga has a long resume in Democrat politics, including work as the director of state research for Bill Clinton’s reelection bid in 1996 and working for both Al Gore’s and Wesley Clark’s presidential campaigns. He has worked for Democrats at local, state, and national levels and in 2004 was a strategy consultant for the Democratic National Committee. As Ballotpedia reported about his Patriot Majority:

In 2005, Varoga founded a network of organizations called the Patriot Majority. According to Politico, “Patriot Majority is comprised of a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization that can, among other things, devote a minority of its resources to running independent ads in elections without disclosing its donors, a so-called 527 organization that does not disclose its activities to the Federal Election Commission and more recently a super PAC that can accept unlimited donations from corporations and unions.”

The Huffington Post reported in 2011 that the Patriot Majority PAC was targeting Tea Party candidates:

Patriot Majority PAC, a group created last year by Democratic Party strategist Craig Varoga, has a new mission — make sure the U.S. House and Senate stay Tea Party free.

“Americans need to confront the dangerous ideas of the tea party movement head on, without any fear, before they gain any additional traction in the legislative process or the 2010 elections,” Varoga told the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza.

Varoga’s PAC hopes to combat the influence of the Tea Party by targeting 12 to 15 races involving candidates from the conservative movement and launching an independent counter-attack of television, radio and online ads, according to Cillizza.

As the electoral battles go forward, Varoga also hopes to establish Patriot Majority PAC as an archive of negative information on the Tea Party movement. In a tweet on Monday, the PAC asked “Citizens Across US to Help Monitor Violence.”

In mid-September, Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson claimed that the group turned in forged voter registration applications that had changed voters’ addresses to an address not associated with the voter, without the knowledge of the voter.

According to TV station WTHR, at that time the Indiana Voter Registration Project issued the following statement:

We sincerely hope that no one in a partisan elected position is using their office in an effort to make it harder for the people of Indiana to vote. The Indiana Voter Registration Project is a nonpartisan effort to ensure that all Indianans who are eligible to vote can do so. As part of its quality-assurance program, the Indiana Voter Registration Project has reviewed tens of thousands of applications and identified a small handful that may have had incomplete or inaccurate information and, in those instances, we immediately informed the Registrar and asked them to double check those forms for accuracy. We have and will continue to work with Indiana authorities to resolve these issues, so that no one is prevented from voting in November who is eligible to do so.

Indiana State Police say the investigation could take months.

State police expand Indiana Voter Registration Project investigation to 56 counties

    POSTED 6:35 PM, OCTOBER 6, 2016, BY FOX59 WEB
    AND JAMES GHERARDI,
    UPDATED AT 04:47PM, OCTOBER 7, 2016

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Indiana State Police added 47 additional counties Thursday to an investigation into allegations of fraudulent voter application information in Indiana.

The investigation originally involved nine counties, but has expanded to include many more. A total of 56 are now included.
This week, police raided the business offices of the Indiana Voter Registration Project, 2425 North Meridian Street, Suite A, in downtown Indianapolis amid reports of fraud.

Indiana voters should check the accuracy of their voter information by visiting this site. Updates to voter registration information can also be made from the same site, up to the date of the deadline.

The Secretary of State Office is also available to assist voters on regular business days, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., by calling 866-461-8683.

“We don’t want to disenfranchise any voters. We want every voter to be able to vote. I want every voter to know that the vote that they cast is a vote that will be counted and will not be canceled out by someone committing fraud,” said Indiana Secretary of State, Connie Lawson.

Patriot Majority USA President Craig Varoga released this statement on behalf of the Indiana Voter Registration Project:
“After all is said and done, when this partisan investigation finds no wrongdoing by the organization, Connie Lawson and the Indiana State Police will have prevented 45,000 African Americans from voting in this year’s elections. That is why today we reported their outrageous actions to the Department of Justice.”
“It’s outrageous, it’s not true, we don’t ask race or ethnicity on our voter registration applications. So I wouldn’t know, the local officials wouldn’t know and neither would this group know what race any registered voter is,” said Lawson.

State police say the investigation is ongoing and it is not possible to determine the number of registered voters that may have been negatively impacted. The investigation is complex, time consuming and is expected to continue for several more weeks or months.

Alert: Mass Voter Fraud Discovered in Indiana

    October 6, 2016 By C.E. Dyer

It’s that time of year, everyone — Democrat voter fraud season. You can smell the desperation in the air as Dems feverishly work to make sure illegals, felons, and their favorite, the dead, get out and vote.

In the latest case, Indiana has been racked by voter fraud as Indiana State Police investigators raided a voter registration agency in Indianapolis on Tuesday. The raid occurred as the investigation into voter fraud has expanded to nine counties in the state, according to the Washington Examiner.

Indiana State police discussed the expanded voter fraud investigation in a statement: “Information has expanded from the original involved counties of Hendricks and Marion to also include the counties of Allen, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Johnson, Lake and Madison.”

    The Examiner reported:
According to police, the investigation began in late August when they learned of the filing of 10 fraudulent voter registration forms in Marion and Hendricks counties.
The results of the search of the Indiana Voter Registration Project in downtown Indianapolis are not yet being released, and the affidavit and search warrant remain sealed for 30 days.

“An investigation of this nature is complex, time consuming and is expected to continue for several more weeks or months,” the Indiana State Police said.

“Victims of the activities by some agents of the Indiana Voter Registration Project may not discover they have been disenfranchised from voting until they go to vote and realize their voting information has been altered. Such action may result in the citizen having to cast a provisional ballot,” Indiana State Police added.

The possible fraudulent information includes a combination of fake information, such as fake names, addresses, and dates of birth, that is mixed together with real information, according to the Indy Star.

According to police, the number of counties involved leads them to believe that there could be hundreds of fraudulent voter records.
But wait you guys, the Democrats claimed that voter fraud is no big whoop and the mean old Republicans were keeping people from voting — even though it’s the Dems that said nothing as members of the New Black Panther Party have intimidated voters, including black voters, as they attempted to vote over the years.

We’ve reported case after case of voter fraud cropping up across the country, including the vulnerability of election systems as they have been targeted for hacks, and it isn’t likely to let up as Republican concern over the integrity over our election systems is proven right again and again.
