Ivanka Trump: Opening Border to Syrian Refugees ‘Has To Be Part of the Discussion,’ Won’t Be Enough By Itself

During a portion of an interview broadcast on Wednesday’s edition of NBC’s “Today,” Ivanka Trump said that opening the border to Syrian refugees “has to be part of the discussion, but that’s not going to be enough in and of itself.”

Ivanka said, “I think there is a global humanitarian crisis that’s happening, and we have to come together, and we have to solve it, and –.”


She was then asked, “Does that include opening the borders to Syrian refugees in –?”


Ivanka responded, “That has to be part of the discussion, but that’s not going to be enough in and of itself.”

Ivanka dear, you are a lovely woman, but you are only 32, have lived in a Ivory Tower your whole life, you mean well, but you are not qualified to be a spokesperson on any US policy. Go back to New York, run your business, be a huge success and when you have an idea call your Dad and then he can explain why that won't work or will work without your embarrassing yourself, your dad or our country.

Agree, Judy. She is a liberal democrat and her advice on anything dealing with immigration should be ignored. Her advice on many things should be ignored.

She needs to return to New York and focus on her business. Trump can't afford this kind of baggage at this point. All the very complicated issues he deals with every minute of every day and now he'll have to deal with bad press over this completely stupid interview that she shouldn't have even had to begin with. If she wants to help Syrian Refugees, she can dip into her own pocket book and send them some money. Her dad has the rich Arab countries set up to pay for all this through Safe Zones, not the US, not a dime.

She is so out of touch that she doesn't understand who these Syrian Refugees are, they are the rebels who started a Civil War that has destroyed Syria, killed hundreds of thousands of Syrians and generated over 5 million refugees. These "refugees" are the criminals who started this useless fruitless war to begin with.

Get her out of the wh - how naive can you get? Sitting in her princess world, she is talking GLOBALIST - OPENING BORDERS/GLOBAL HUMANITARIAN CRISIS in the same sentence is trouble. daddy's little spoiled girl needs to exit and she can take her immature spoiled husband with her.

Yes, I agree, artist. She and Jared both need to go back to New York with their family. I think Trump thought Ivanka could be helpful on women's health issues. He's got this himself. He doesn't need her to tell him about women's health issues. He's on his third wife and has 5 children. He has thousands and thousands of employees. He's already forgotten more than Ivanka will ever know about women's health issues. I think he wanted Jared to work with the team on a Peace Agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, but Trump already knows this situation better than anyone in the world, so really, their contributions are not needed and the friction and bad publicity they're causing are at this point detrimental to his Presidency.

No, opening any border to Syrian refugees is not necessary. Create a permanent safe zone right there in Syria with humanitarian aid and protection being provided by the United Nations. As the largest financial contributors to the United Nation, we should demand it or threaten to pull out. We are one of only 5 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. Let's not forget the U.N. headquarters itself is in New York City. If the U.S. pulled out it would be devastating to the U.N. since we contribute around 22% to their budget and around 28% to their peacekeeping budget. Unfortunately though, Russia is also one of the permanent members with veto power.

Should the U.N. refuse, we pull out and demand intervention through NATO. Perhaps NATO mission goals would need to be reassessed and adjusted, but that should be doable. There are over 25 NATO countries.

This refugee situation is a crisis and something needs to be done immediately to keep potential Syrian refugees safe in their own country. We keep hearing talk of safe zones, but nothing seem to be getting done.

I assumed she was speaking about all borders in general, including ours.
