Jeb Bush Seeks The White House; America’s Response Should Send A Clear Message

Another Bush Seeks The White House; America’s Response Should Send A Clear Message

A recent Economist/YouGov poll makes his future fairly clear.

Apparently, a number of the approximately 200 individuals gathered for the event were receptive to the announcement, leading Bush to ask them to “call and tell [his] mom” about the decision.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush reportedly confirmed mounting suspicions that he wants to be the third member of his immediate family to occupy the White House. In a recent appearance at a New York fundraiser, Politico reports that he told attendees he is “thinking about running for president.”

Apparently, a number of the approximately 200 individuals gathered for the event were receptive to the announcement, leading Bush to ask them to “call and tell [his] mom” about the decision.

The politician, however, is a much tougher sell for members of his party overall – especially among those who call themselves conservatives.

A recent Economist/YouGov poll indicates the number of Republicans opposed to a potential Bush candidacy far outweighs those who support him. Only one in four members of the GOP would embrace his presidential bid overall, while a meager 18 percent of self-described conservatives are on board.

In a breakdown of their findings, pollsters indicated the word “moderate” is used often to describe him – both by his supporters and detractors, though obviously in different contexts.

“So is the acronym ‘RINO,’ Republican in name only,” the study found. “’Conservative’ appears hardly at all among those with positive views of Bush, but it is there among those who dislike him.”

After coming under fire recently from his party’s conservative base for, among other issues, the perception that he is soft on immigration, it is clear that he is not a favorite among Tea Party-aligned voters. The poll indicates, however, that Bush is a top pick among establishment Republicans.

While some oppose his candidacy because they feel it would create a Bush “legacy,” most of his detractors seem to focus on his “ideology – or lack of it,” the poll concludes.

With a number of other potential candidates – e.g., Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz – who have much more support among conservatives, it seems Bush’s dream of following in the footsteps of his father and brother could be nothing more than a fantasy.

Jeb Bush to Run for President

Might Jeb Bush, the 61-year old brother of the 43rd president be considering a run at the Oval Office in 2016?

On Wednesday, the former Florida governor told the press he is seriously contemplating throwing his hat in the ring for the next presidential election.

Jeb Bush was speaking at a fundraiser for the Archdiocese of New York's Catholic schools when he dropped the tantalizing comment.

Bush told an audience member, "I'm thinking about running for president." The assembled crowd applauded in approval. The politician told attendees he would make a final decision about running for the White House by the end of this year.

Several influential people and donors in the Republican Party have launched a campaign supporting the potential candidate.

One challenge facing the Bush may come from his own state. Senator Marco Rubio could also be planning a bid for the highest office in the land. The pair share many of the same donors, meaning their support could be divided if both men run.

Barbara Bush recently told reporters there have been enough Bushes in the White House, and that other families should take the reigns of office. However, the 88-year old did acknowledge that Jeb is the most qualified of the family members to become president. Her latest comments about the possibility of a 2016 campaign by her second-born son have been generally positive.

A recent poll by Fox News found Jeb Bush in a dead heat among Republicans as their choice for President in the next election. He tied Rand Paul of Kentucky at 14 percent, while New Jersey governor Chris Christie barely edged them out by one percentage point.

The survey also found Republicans are more likely than Democrats to believe a small group of ruling families is controlling the nation. A the end of President Obama's term, a member of the Clinton or Bush families will have occupied the White House for 20 of the last 28 years. Nearly two-thirds of Democrats are supporting Hillary Clinton in the coming presidential contest.

Call today and urge President Obama to pardon Chelsea Manning!

Monday, April 14th, the office of court martial Convening Authority Major General Buchanan publicly rejected Army whistleblower Chelsea Manning's request for clemency. The military has again trampled on civil liberties by providing no accountability for Chelsea's illegal pretrial punishment, lengthy pretrial confinement or undue command influence.

Outrageously, the White House has claimed it won't even respond to Chelsea's request for presidential clemency until after legal appeals are exhausted. We need your help to show President Obama this cowardly stalling tactic won't be tolerated. Call the White House today, and demand that President Obama respond to Chelsea's pardon request before he's out of office
