PoliticsTrump admin backs off pledge of immediate immigration change

    ALICIA A. CALDWELL,Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump will focus immigration enforcement efforts first on criminal immigrants in the country illegally, his administration said on Monday, offering hope to more than three-quarters of a million young immigrants protected from deportation under the Obama administration.

Those protected from deportation under former President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program have been worried that Trump would follow through on a campaign pledge to immediately end the "illegal amnesty."
While White House spokesman Sean Spicer, at his first press briefing, did not explicitly rule out action on the program known as DACA, his comments suggest that Trump's initial policies will be similar to Obama's. Spicer noted Trump has said his focus would be on immigrants in the country illegally who have a criminal record or pose a threat.

"That's where the priority's going to be, and then we're going to continue to work through the entire number of folks that are here illegally," he said.
He added that those immigrants who have overstayed visas will also be among the administration's enforcement priorities.

Spicer's comments echo what Trump said in an interview shortly after the election, when he told CBS' "60 Minutes" that the focus would on "probably 2 million, it could be even 3 million" criminals living in the country illegally. They also suggest continuity with Obama, who also focused on immigrants with criminal records.

Obama created the DACA program in 2012. The program allows young immigrants who were brought to the country as children to apply for a two-year reprieve from deportation and a work permit. The protection and work permit can be renewed.
Information about the program and applications documents remained available online from U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services, the Homeland Security agency that manages DACA.

Immigration advocates bracing for elimination of the program are pushing members of Congress to protect the young immigrants after failing to do so in the past. The immigrants, often referred to as Dreamers, are seen as the most sympathetic group among the estimated 11 million immigrants living in the United States illegally.
Spicer also said Trump has begun working on how to pay for his other primary immigration promise, a wall at the Mexican border.

"He has already started to work with Congress on the appropriations avenue of that," Spicer said. "And so he is doing everything he can to direct agencies and Congress to commence with that work as soon as possible."

Trump has said that Mexico will reimburse the U.S. for the fence — a project that could cost billions of dollars. The Mexican government has repeatedly said it would make no payments.

Just more media hype to try and make Trump Supporters and Trump Voters feel like they're being betrayed by our dear President Trump. Not so. "DREAMERS" were never a deportation priority for anyone, not even "immigration hawks", not even any of US on ALIPAC, the hardest line of immigration hawks. We have no problem at all with getting the worst of the worst out first. Who would? That doesn't mean the others aren't going to be hauled out of here or forced to leave. Quite the opposite. When the criminals are out, their families are out, when the visa overstays are out, their families are out, when the ones on welfare are out, their families are out, when the ones working for illegal employers are out, their families are out, now in those groups tell me how many "DACAs" are left?

If Trump does nothing on DACA except let it expire and stops taking applications, half of the DACAs are no longer DACA's in 2018. They're all gone if not already gone because they were picked up as part of the other groups, then they're all gone by March of 2019. Employers will stop hiring them this year because of turn-over. No one wants to hire someone who only has a year or less left on a work permit, at least not for a good job. If Trump rescinds but with some notice, they could all be gone by the end of this year. For example, if he rescinds DACA but in his Executive Order reduces the time period for those who have been renewed and sends them new cards, then he can set the date the whole thing is over for everyone.

He could also terminate the whole program including the renewals effective July 30. Send those whose renewals extend beyond that a letter with a new card with the July 30 expiration date and require them to return the old one. That gives them 5 to 6 months to wrap up their lives, pack, make plans, call home, make arrangements, or make their way to a different country. An article I read that interviewed a lot of them, especially the ones from Mexico, said they would be heading to Canada because Canada has eased their visa requirements for Mexicans.

There are 30 million or more illegal aliens in the United States. DACA's are around 869,000 of them. Trump's going to focus first on the other 29.2 million. But he'll get to them. You can bet on it.

It's all going to work out fine. We still need the full court press to make sure Trump knows our stance, make sure Congress knows our stance, and that we expect our stance to be US policy on US immigration because our stance is US immigration law, the will of the people of the United States. Period.

    Americans First.

AP is a lefty Clinton Sucker. Daily Beast is a lefty Clinton Lover. The MSM is all Hillary Shrills. These are all Amnesty Proponents. Why are we letting them divide us? Why are we letting them try to demoralize us? Why? This is a disgusting psychological warfare of the left on us and we're falling for it.

He risked his reputation, his business, his money, his life for us to help US fix our country starting with his declarations on ending illegal immigration. He is the one who had the guts to call a spade a spade on live television in his announcement speech. "Mexico is not sending us their best. They bring crime, they're bring drugs, they're rapists, and I suppose some are good people."

Do you really think a man who calls that spade a spade is going to let US down? I don't think so. Not for a minute. He just needs to know it matters, and I believe he does. Congress needs to know it matters, and I believe the House does. So Tweet, Facebook, Fax, Email, Call, spread the word that we do not want any special treatment for DACA's or DREAMERS. We want the program ended in good legal fashion on the earliest possible date.

It will all work out, you'll see!!

Completely ignoring the fact that the U.S. Congress is currently working on a amnesty for the DACA illegals would be a big mistake. According to what we've heard, this is being done with Trump's approval. It is becoming more and more clear that Trump does not plan on deporting the DACA illegals. I think he has been turned by some of his advisers on this issue and it's time we prepare for the reality of that possibility. To refuse to pay attention to all the signs is to hide our heads in the sand.

Yes, I'm suggesting Trump has no plans to end the DACA program until there is another amnesty in place to protect the so-called Dreamers.

That's okay if you want to think that. Who knows what's going on with the Swamp in Congress and that awful Paul Ryan. I don't think Trump wants to do anything except deport illegal aliens and get them out of here. Ryan is taking drug money and wants to show his Payors some results with an amnesty bill. I get it. I just don't think there's enough Paul Ryans in the US House of Representatives to pass any type of Amnesty or Legal Status bill for anyone. I think they like their jobs and want to be re-elected in 2 years and I think they know that passing an Amnesty Bill won't get them there, it will get them FIRED.

The chain migration policies are what will really do us in, if they are not changed.

And as for Paul Ryan---I would like to meet someone who actually likes him! There are some mythical supporters in Wisconsin apparently. I'm not really sure what keeps him going? Apparently, a certain level of expertise required to be Speaker.

I think the qualification is running for Vice President and losing. Not sure why that impresses members of our US House of Representatives.

    Someone should do a study.

Meanwhile, they all need to sit down and wait for orders from the White House, then when they arrive, jump and do exactly what they're told to do.

There can only be One Boss in DC for the next 4 years, and guy is Donald J Trump. You're riding his wave, not the only way around.
