Say NO! to anti-immigrant policy proposals
On June 1, the MA Senate attached a divisive anti-immigrant amendment to their Budget Bill. This amendment will be harmful for all Massachusetts residents, citizens and non-citizens alike.

Our opportunity to remove this amendment is NOW. A conference committee to reconcile the House and Senate budget bills is meeting to craft the final Budget Bill.

It’s time to tell our legislators that we don’t want these anti-immigrant laws.

The proposed changes would set up an enormous unnecessary new bureaucracy, result in higher costs for the state, put a financial burden on small businesses, and create tons of red tape, without making any real difference in who gets state benefits.

    Call Your Legislators
Call Conference Committee Co-Chairs Sen. Panagiotakos - 617-722-1630
and Rep. Charles Murphy - 617-722-2990

Ask them to exclude Senate Budget Amendment 172.1 from the conference committee budget!

    Why?
The bill mandates a hotline which anyone from anywhere can call to report someone as undocumented; the reporter is kept completely confidential, callers don’t have to give a name or a reason. As soon as your name is mentioned on this line, regardless of why or by whom, the Attorney General’s office automatically begins to investigate you, your residency statues, and your work authorization.
    · The hotline opens the private affairs of all MA residents up to the scrutiny of the Attorney General’s Office.
    · People with personal scores to settle can use the hotline to harass any MA residents.
    · The Attorney General’s office has been allocated no new funds to implement this enormous investigative mandate and the other requirements of the bill.
    · The federal government already has a hotline for such information, making this program costly and redundant.

I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
