Benghazi: Speaker Boehner reacts to criticism of his non-actions

by Jim Kouri on May 9, 2013

Immediately following Wednesday’s Benghazi terror attack hearings in the House of Representatives, several conservative talk hosts and commentators, such as former Justice Department chief of staff Mark Levin, severely criticized the alleged failure of House Speaker John Boehner to prod the House and Senate into creating a special committee of lawmakers to intensify the investigation into the actions of President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary, former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, and other members of the Obama administration during the eight-hour attack on the U.S. consulate.

“Apparently Speaker Boehner listens to shows hosted by talk giants Sean Hannity and ‘The Great One’ Mark Levin. I believe that’s what got the Speaker to get involved in the Benghazi investigation,” said former intelligence officer and retired police detective Mike Snopes.

“While not calling for a special prosecutor or a special investigative panel of lawmakers, Speaker Boehner on Thursday demanded that officials in the Obama administration provide to lawmakers any and all emails with regard to the so-called Benghazi talking points,” Snopes said.

Wednesday’s hearings left many observers wanting more information and they are calling on the Republicans to continue in the quest for clear answers on the deadly Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack.

In reaction to Boehner and Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa’s statements, Democrats enraged many Americans when they responded that the testimony of the whistleblowers was nothing of any consequence nor did it change their minds that the Benghazi probe was actually a political tactic to tarnish the reputation of Obama and Clinton.

“The truth shouldn’t be hidden from the American people behind a White House firewall,” Boehner said Thursday during a press briefing. “Four Americans lost their lives in this terrorist attack. Congress will continue to investigate this issue, using all of the resources at our disposal.”

“The State Department would not allow our committees to keep copies of this email when it was reviewed,” Boehner told reporters. “I would call on the president to order the State Department to release this email so the American people can see it.”

The Obama and his minions claim the changes made to the talking points — which blamed a YouTube video for the violence in Libya rather than terrorists — made only changes that clarified the talking points to be used by Rice, ignoring the fact that Obama’s own staff directed the changes to the talking points, Boehner said.

Boehner demanded that the Obama administration release internal emails, that some lawmakers had been able to review but not keep, so all of the American people would have access to those “revealing documents.”.

During his Wednesday radio show, attorney Mark Levin was livid in his attacks on Boehner for not taking a stronger position on the Benghazi scandal and on the so-called mainstream news media who gave the hearings scant coverage. Levin called the members of many news organizations “Obama’s Praetorian Guard,” reference to the soldiers who protected the Roman Empire’s dictators.
After the hearing, Rep. Issa told Fox News Channel that he will continue to seek whistleblowers to “come forward.”

“Candidly, as quickly as possible, we simply want to have the whistleblowers that are still out there, in fact witnesses that are still out there to come forward, tell us their story. We will get it out and we will close up this investigation,” he told the Fox News Channel.

Witnesses questioned why U.S. military assets did not respond sooner that night, with one alleging a military team was not given permission to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi the next morning.

Levin replied during his show that a true Commander in Chief would have ordered an immediate response. He stated that he believed Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush wouldn’t have cared about “Libyan airspace” or other diplomatic considerations. He also said on-the-air:
“Our Ambassador, Americans, our consulate – under attack, fighting for their lives! And the President of the United States apparently went to sleep. Or maybe to a concert. Or maybe planning his next golf game. I don’t know. But he was AWOL.”

Tell Congress: Create a Joint Select Committee to INVESTIGATE the 9/11/12 Benghazi Attacks! Fax Congress and Sign the Petition.
