[Watch] Defense Secretary Hagel Wants to Take a Look at Transgender Service Personnel

Posted on 11 May, 2014 by Rick Wells

Anything goes under Chuck Hagel in B. Hussein’s new touchy feely, kinder, gentler military. Now Hagel wants to review whether transsexuals should serve openly in the military and the current ban be lifted.

He wrestles with a “medical component” requiring medical attention in austere locations as being the chief obstacle. There is some kind of opportunity that he describes as not being available, although Hagel can’t quite come out and say, so we are left wondering.

It’s odd that the mystery component can’t be talked about in an interview, but it is something that he’s willing to consider imposing upon service men and women.

At the rate Amerika is progressing, the phrase “this man’s army” may soon be deemed as inappropriate hate speech.

The United States military is not a social studies experiment.

Chuck Hagel’s latest Obamanation is just another example of an order coming from a President who I honestly think is gay. There, I said it.

Transgender People Now Asking and Telling in Obama’s Military

Posted by Joe Wurzelbacher on May 12, 2014 in Culture, Email, Military

I got an extra set of balls for ya right here sweetheart..

Transgender People: The United States military has one reason for being:

To defend the United States Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

The Obama Administration, with it’s persistent weakening and downright girlish makeover of our armed forces – and listening to Chuck Hagel babble on about “transgender” people serving – it seems they’re intent on making it look like our enemies reside at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Obama’s Defense Secretary Hagel said on Sunday the prohibition on transgender individuals serving in the U.S. military “continually should be reviewed.”
We all know what that means – “continually should be reviewed” = done deal.

I got a million of ‘em.. Now go clean the latrine..

In case you don’t have a “I don’t know what the hell I am” scorecard; a transgender person is somebody with a set of girl parts, but are convinced they’re a boy and vice-verse. Not gay, like the football player, or Ellen – but actually the wrong sex according to the parts they were born with…
I know what you’re thinking – how do they know they’re just not gay and they’re actually not the other, um.. with the – oh forget it – LISTEN UP:
The United States military is not a social studies experiment. Our armed forces should be recruited and intensely, professionally trained to kill people and destroy stuff at the most efficient and devastating rate possible; with the most expensive, technologically advanced weaponry and techniques known to man. Not as nation-builders or friendly peace-keeping neighbors, but platoons, battalions, regiments, divisions and armies of highly effective killing machines.
Wave after wave of certain and sudden death so powerful and horrifying that no one on earth would rattle our cage or even think about doing battle with us, our allies, or screw with our interests – unless you want your arse in a drag race with your bald spot. I don’t even know what that means, but I’m pretty sure it ends up with your country getting a new name.
Sound harsh? Guess what you ungrateful punks on your smart phones, playing with yourselves on the Internet and texting your BFF about that new iPad app and getting NetFlix on your X-box because you want to watch Miley Cyrus stick her twerk out – let me tell you something:
None of your safe little lifestyles would be possible without the U.S. Military spilling blood for it.
Not Oprah, Pitbull, Don Draper, Kanye, Snookie, Mark Zuckerberg or F’n Stewie Griffin is responsible for you being able to hang out, pissing and moaning about global warming, your parents, gluten, math class, your boss, your ex, income inequality or your fat ass.

You are one fine lookin’ white man.

It is the soldier who brought you this moment and it is President Obama who is now bringing it all down.
Anyway, please don’t ask me to explain further – I’m in enough hot water right now, I’m sure. This article is about what’s being done to make the military into an entitlement and Chuck Hagel’s latest Obamanation is just another example of an order coming from a President who I honestly think is gay.
There, I said it. President Obama is either gay or transgender for all I know. Hey – he can be in the military now! If he only knew how to hold a gun. I can hear it now: Headlines – “Joe The Plumber says President Obama wants to spread more than his wealth”..

    She’s dreamy!.. wait – that’s me. I’m dreamy!

Chelsea Manning, the former Army private serving a 35-year prison sentence for providing classified documents to WikiLeaks, is fighting to be treated as a woman. She is seeking a counselor who specializes in gender issues and also wants to get hormone replacement therapy, which the military has said it does not provide.

A think tank at San Francisco State University – where else? – estimates around 15,000 transgenders currently serve in the military, National Guard and Reserve. Although as of 2010 gays and lesbians can serve openly, Hagel said transgenders were more complicated because “they have issues requiring medical attention” that can’t be provided in certain locations.
Okay, transgenders I don’t hate you, I’m not against you, I don’t pretend to understand you, I just know you shouldn’t be in the military. Shut up and get the hell out. End of story. Why? Because the military is there to blow shit up, not run around worrying about your issues, brother / sister.
Stop it, already. This is the branch of life that is securing our freedoms and may I remind you that the freedom you have to claim you are, in fact not a boy, despite the tally-whacker and orphans down there and no matter how dubious myself and the lion’s share of people feel regarding that POV; you more than anyone should value that freedom, my man / lady.

I don’t know.. can I go back? Is there a warranty?

Former Navy SEAL Team 6 Chris Beck, who now goes by Kristin Beck, has proposed a pilot program that would give service members in the process of changing their sex a year to complete the emotional and physical transition in return for two years of additional service.

Why would anyone with such a major psychological disorder be allowed to enlist? Sorry, but that’s what Transgender is. A disorder that comes with a massive psychological and physiological price tag, as well as a dollar price tag. Being attracted to the same sex is one thing, but having your genitals cut out? Your breasts sliced off and sewn up?
Does any of this coming from Hagel surprise anyone? While Obama is building up his own private Homeland Security army, he’s decimating our National Forces, demanding retirement of our finest officers, cutting personnel, equipment, training – all while agencies of the Federal Government from the IRS to the Social Securtity office buys up weapons and ammo by the billions of dollars. This administration is out of control – the line needs to be drawn.
Or better yet, the adults will take over and put someone qualified in charge. Like this guy maybe?

    I believe him..

Defense Secretary Says Military’s Transgender Ban Should Be Reviewed

The Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy, which banned open service by gay and lesbians in the U.S. Armed Force, was lifted in 2011. But transgender Americans are still prohibited from open service.
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on Sunday said that, while the issue is more complicated than sexual orientation, that ban should be reviewed. Asked by Martha Raddatz on ABC’s This Week about the policy, Hagel said, “This issue of transgender is a bit more complicated, because it has a medical component to it. These issues require medical attention. Austere locations, where we put our men and women, in many cases don’t always provide that kind of opportunity.
“I do think it continually should be reviewed,” he went on. “I’m open to that, by the way. I’m open to those assessments because, again, I go back to the bottom line: every qualified American who wants to serve our country should have an opportunity, if they fit the qualifications and can do it. This is an area where we’ve not defined enough.”
    Watch the video:

Despite the prohibition, transgender people serve at double the rate of the general population, though they must keep their gender identity a secret or risk being discharged. A March report by the Palm Center found no reason to continue the ban, determining, “Medical regulations requiring the discharge of transgender personnel are inconsistent with how the military regulates all other medical and psychological conditions, and transgender-related conditions appear to be the only gender-related conditions that require discharge irrespective of fitness for duty.” The commission that produced the report was co-chaired by former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders and retired Rear Admiral Alan M. Steinman.
Unlike Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, there is no congressional statute dictating the ban on transgender servicemembers, meaning Hagel and the administration could change the policy without needing legislative approval. At least 12 other countries already allow trans people to serve, including: Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Israel, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
Last June, Hagel said at a Pentagon LGBT Pride month event that the fact that gay and lesbian service members can now “serve openly, with full honor, integrity and respect,” it “makes our military and our nation stronger, much stronger.”

Lawyer: Treat leaker Manning at military facility

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon is trying to transfer convicted national security leaker Pvt. Chelsea Manning to a civilian prison where she can get treatment for a gender-identity condition. But her lawyer said Wednesday that a move from a military prison would make Manning choose between the treatment and her safety.

Two Pentagon officials told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel gave the Army approval last month to try to work out a plan to transfer Manning from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, to a federal prison. Manning entered the Army as a man named Bradley.

The officials were not authorized to speak on the record and discussed the matter on condition of anonymity.

Manning has been diagnosed with gender dysphoria, the sense of being a woman in a man's body. Civilian prisons can provide treatment, but the Defense Department does not, and a transfer would allow her to see if she wants to complete the transformation to being a woman.

Transgender people are not allowed to serve in the military.

Manning was convicted of sending classified documents to anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. The soldier has asked for hormone therapy and to be able to live as a woman.

The request was the first by a transgender military inmate and set up this dilemma for the department: how to treat a soldier for a diagnosed disorder without violating long-standing military policy. The military has also repeatedly argued that it does not have the medical expertise to provide treatment for gender dysphoria.

Manning cannot be discharged from the service while serving her 35-year prison sentence.

Her lawyer, David Coombs, contended that civilian prisons are not as safe.

Coombs said "any military facility would be acceptable." In a statement, he said "it is common knowledge that the federal prison system cannot guarantee the safety and security of Chelsea in the way that the military prison system can."

Defense officials say the Army is expected to meet with the Justice Department this week to discuss the matter. The Justice Department declined to comment on the Manning issue.

Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, said the Constitution requires that prisoners be given medical treatment. "The Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment against any prisoners," she said. "It doesn't matter if she's requesting treatment for gender dysphoria or a broken leg. They have to treat her. And it is cruel to withhold medical treatment."

Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said no decision to transfer Manning to a civilian detention facility had been made. "Any such decision will, of course, properly balance the soldier's medical needs with our obligation to ensure Pvt. Manning remains behind bars," he said.

Coombs said responsibility for Manning rests with the military.

"The military's refusal to provide necessary medical treatment to Chelsea is flat-out transphobia," Coombs said. "Rather than deal with the reality that transgender persons are currently serving in the military, the military would seek to pawn off any responsibility for these."

The Army sends an average of 15 to 20 prisoners a year to civilian prisons. But Manning's appeals have not been exhausted, she's still in the military and her case is of national security interest. Those are factors that normally would prevent a transfer.

The former intelligence analyst was sentenced in August for six Espionage Act violations and 14 other offenses for giving WikiLeaks more than 700,000 secret military and State Department documents, along with battlefield video, while working in Iraq in 2009 and 2010.

Part of Manning's defense was that she should not have been deployed because of her deteriorating mental health. That included evidence about the soldier's extreme mental pressure over her gender-identity issues during the "don't ask, don't tell" era when gay service members could not serve openly. That policy was later changed.

After the conviction, Manning announced the desire to live as a woman and legally changed her name to Chelsea.

The soldier has been diagnosed by military doctors multiple times, including last fall after arriving in Fort Leavenworth, as having gender dysphoria.

By November, a military doctor there had approved a treatment plan, including hormone therapy, but it had to be considered by senior military officers, according to a complaint Manning filed in March.

That plan has not been publicly released, but Manning said in the complaint that she had specifically asked that the treatment "plan consider ... three types of treatment."

Those were "real life experience," a regimen in which the person tries dressing and living in the new gender, though that's not possible in the Leavenworth men's facility); hormone therapy, which changes some physical traits such as breast and hair growth; and sex reassignment surgery.

Manning has not publicly said if she wants surgery.

Hagel said Sunday that the prohibition on transgender individuals serving in the armed forces "continually should be reviewed."

A transgender individual is someone who has acquired the physical characteristics of the opposite sex or presents himself or herself in a way that does not correspond with that person's sex at birth.
