Pantano Releases NEW RouzerForAmnesty.com Ad; Highlights Rouzer’s Work Collecting Money From Special Interests to Lobby For Amnesty For Illegal Aliens

Conservative Wilmington Republican Points Out Rouzer’s Record on Fundraising from Lobbyists, Advocating Amnesty for Illegal Aliens, and His Opposition to Term Limits

WILMINGTON, NC – This Valentines Day, Conservative Wilmington Republican Ilario Pantano, the son of a legal immigrant to the United States, released his second ad of the 2012 campaign cycle, pointing out that the only people getting any love from career politician and lobbyist David Rouzer are the special interests that have business before committees in the State Senate. The ad notes that Rouzer has used a loophole in the campaign finance law to raise money from lobbyists, that he continually advocates for amnesty for illegal aliens, and that he opposes term limits.

The :60 ad, entitled “Baggage,” pokes fun at the long journey Raleigh politician David Rouzer is making to southeastern North Carolina, in his bid to return to Washington. Senator Rouzer previously worked inside the Beltway as a lobbyist, where his work included advocacy on behalf of the 2007 AgJOBS Act, which would have granted amnesty to 3.3 million immigrants residing in the U.S. illegally. Not a single Republican Congressman from North Carolina supported the bill, and the conservative Heritage Foundation called the AgJobs Act, “Immigration Amnesty Revived.”

The ad also highlights Senator Rouzer’s questionable fundraising tactics – which exploit a loophole in North Carolina’s campaign finance law to allow him to raise money from lobbyists – as well as Rouzer’s recent comments regarding his opposition to term limits, and Rouzer’s failing ratings from the conservative Civitas Institute.

Ilario Pantano, an author, businessman, and veteran of two wars said the following: “Republicans in southeastern North Carolina have a clear choice between a consistent, proven, conservative fighter and a lobbyist who has been part of the problem in Washington once and now wants another shot at it. The polls clearly show that the more the seventh district gets to know Rouzer and his record, the less they want him representing them in Congress.”

Pantano continued: “Rouzer’s willingness to cash a paycheck to push amnesty for illegal aliens makes me wonder what else he would push for a $5,000 PAC check in Washington.”

“Baggage” comes on the heels of Senator Rouzer’s comments in the Fayetteville-Observer conceding he has “significant ground” to make up in the race for the Republican nomination. Pantano recently released a campaign poll showing him with a 48 percent to 21 percent lead over Rouzer, which the Fayetteville-Observer deemed “commanding.”
