Drunks, Bullies, Traitors, Fringe, & Other Things Mitch McConnell Has Called Conserva

    Stunning

“Drunks,” “Bullies,” “Traitors,” “Fringe,” and Other Things Mitch McConnell Has Called Conservatives

Mitch McConnell is doing his best to walk back his comments about conservatives. He told theNew York Times he intended to “crush them everywhere.” Now he says he was only talking about the Jim DeMint founded Senate Conservatives Fund and its candidates — candidates like Ben Sasse supported by Paul Ryan, Mike Lee, Club for Growth, RedState, National Review, and others.

Actually, Mitch McConnell has been pretty open in the past about his contempt for conservatives. He has referred to conservatives and the outside groups they fund, as traitors, bullies, drunks, and fringe. He claims conservatives “tear up every bar they walk into,” and he wants to “punch” the tea party “in the nose.”
Those are his words. And he has been pretty consistent over time. Back in 2009, McConnell’s associates famously put James Dobson in a terribly embarrassing spot when they lied about Rand Paul’s record. McConnell sent staff into Kentucky to defeat Rand Paul.
McConnell now says he only meant he wanted to crush the Senate Conservatives Fund, but back in 2009 and 2010, the Senate Conservatives Fund was the group standing with conservatives and Pat Toomey, Marco Rubio, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul against Mitch McConnell’s supported Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, Bob Bennett, and Trey Grayson.
It is true that a number of McConnell’s remarks have focused on the Senate Conservatives Fund, but his remarks have also targeted groups like FreedomWorks, Club For Growth, and others. He is systematically targeting conservative organizations that do not follow the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s lead. What’s worse, he is enlisting a bunch of useful idiots on the right to do damage control for him and to protect him.
If you think Mitch McConnell needs protection and saving, consider that if McConnell had his way Trey Grayson would be in the Senate instead of Rand Paul; Charlie Crist would be in the Senate instead of Marco Rubio, David Dewhurst would be in the Senate instead of Ted Cruz; Arlen Specter would be in the Senate instead of Pat Toomey; and Bob Bennett would be in the Senate instead of Mike Lee.
When McConnell attacks FreedomWorks, Senate Conservatives Fund, Club for Growth, Madison Project, and even the tea party — he is attacking the conservatives who have saved the Republican Party from itself. He is attacking you. So you should defeat him.

    ‘Crush Them Everywhere’

    By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | March 10th, 2014 at 04:30 AM | 69

“Crush them everywhere.” That is not Mitch McConnell’s expectation on beating the Democrats. That is not Mitch McConnell’s hope against Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats. This — “crush them everywhere” — is what Mitch McConnell tells the New York Times he intends to do to conservatives.

“They cannot crush this conservative uprising; they can only delay it.”
Across the country, as conservatives realize that to change America they must change Washington and to change Washington they must change the GOP, men and women are standing up, giving small dollar donations, and finding challengers to the Republican establishment.
The Republican establishment they fight is the one that gave us the foundation for Common Core in No Child Left Behind, the welfare state expansion of Medicare Part D, the ballooning of the national debt for domestic programs while hiding behind war spending, and then collaborating with the Democrats for TARP, the General Motors bailout, and banning the incandescent light bulb.
If Mitch McConnell and his friends win re-election, the Republican establishment that did those things will be the Republican leadership back in charge.
This is why I think, in truth, whether you as a conservative think you can sit this out or not, if conservatives do not beat McConnell, Thad Cochran, Pat Roberts, Shane Osborne, and others, the Republican establishment in Washington will finally conclude that conservatives are paper tigers who can be ignored.
They have been working toward that for a while. John Boehner has attacked conservatives. McConnell says he will “crush them everywhere.” Certainly there are some groups on the sidelines trying to stay out of the fight, but McConnell and Boehner together are lumping every conservative group together. They cannot crush this conservative uprising; they can only delay it. But if they do beat all challengers this cycle even the groups who haven’t stopped serving as lapdogs to the GOP Establishment will be marginalized around the leadership table. The Republican leadership is just looking for an excuse.
The Republican leaders prefer their billionaire donors with their cosmopolitan interests. These people just want carve outs for themselves. They are not asking for an actual shrinking of government like Main Street is. The GOP Leadership really needs an excuse to totally ignore Main Street and give Wall Street comprehensive immigration reform, tax breaks for big business, etc.
So all of you on the sidelines might as well write a check to Matt Bevin right now. And send some to the Senate Conservatives Fund, Madison Project, Club for Growth, and FreedomWorks. All four are under unyielding attacks from the Republican leadership. If the Republican leadership wins, they will view all of us — whether you engaged or sat on the sidelines — as unable to challenge them in either politics or policy.
Crush or be crushed — Mitch McConnell just clarified this election.

    ForAmerica

GOP “leader” Mitch McConnell told the New York Times that he will “crush” grassroots conservatives. Real conservatives would focus on crushing ObamaCare, the debt, and Obama’s unconstitutional power grab (just to name a few). It’s time to Dump the Leadership!

Ted Cruz: Government has to Stop Saddling our Children with Debt

    By: Jake (Diary) | March 11th, 2014 at 10:00 AM | 18

    Video at the Page Link:

In case you missed it, Senator Ted Cruz held a Bloggers’ Briefing last Wednesday at CPAC 2014. RedState Editor Caleb Howe was privileged to attend this wearing his hat as a writer for the site The Right Scoop. While there, he captured this gem of a response from Cruz to a question about what the government, including the Senator himself, can do for America’s children. His response is one that gets to one of the most fundamental goals of American conservatism: making sure our children live in a better country than we did. Here is the video of his response:

You can count me in with Senator Cruz, and I’m certain that everyone else on this site agrees. As a party and a nation, we have to get back to the common sense values that made us great. The issue of creating a better America for our kids, which includes the embracing economic growth and fixing our debt problem, should not be wedge issues. They should not be 51% issues. These are issues that should be supported by vast majorities of our population. We have to stop thinking about short term solutions to our problems and consider what will happen 10, 20, 30, or more years down the road. For years, our government has failed to do that. We have to return to that kind of thinking if America is to remain great. Men like Senator Ted Cruz understand that. If only we had more men like him in Washington, and electing more of them is a large part of what RedState is here for. It’s also part of what you can do to help fix our broken government.
