The Ku Klux Klan is stepping up its activities in some parts of the country, a trend that its leaders and opponents tie to anti-immigrant sentiment.

In the past year, the Klan has rallied or distributed fliers in Bloomington, Ind.; Amarillo, Texas; Denison, Iowa; and elsewhere. In each case, the white-supremacist group denounced illegal immigration or targeted communities with growing immigrant populations.

"It surprised me they came," says police Sgt. Randy TenBrink in Amarillo, site of a rally in August by the Texas chapter of the Empire Knights of the KKK. It is the only local KKK rally he knows of in 30 years. "The content of their message surprised me. It was so disjointed."

The Anti-Defamation League, a group that fights anti-Semitism and racism, released a report this week citing "a surprising and troubling resurgence" of KKK activity by long-standing and new groups. "They use this immigration issue to bring in others who feel like America is under siege," says Deborah Lauter, the ADL's national civil rights director. "It's easy for hate to spread."

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups, also has charted an overall increase in KKK activity and says anti-immigrant sentiment is a primary driver, says Mark Potok, director of the center's tracking operation. The number of KKK groups rose from 110 in 2000 to 179 in 2005 but fell to about 150 last year, Potok says.

The behavior parallels the periods after Sept. 11, 2001, and the launch of the Iraq war in 2003. Extremist groups recruited new members by targeting Muslims, says William Aponte, the FBI's supervisory special agent for civil rights.

Phil Lawson, who says his title is "imperial wizard" of the United Northern and Southern Knights of the KKK, would not give membership numbers but says his group is growing.

He says last year it distributed 6,000 anti-immigrant newsletters in Bloomington and other Indiana communities calling for a rally and blaming illegal workers for taking jobs.

"Everyday that our government allows this Illegal Mexican Invasion to continue, our membership numbers continue to grow in the KKK," he says in an e-mail responding to questions.

In Denison, KKK members put recruitment fliers on parked cars in August, Police Chief Rod Bradley says. Storm Lake, Iowa, also was targeted.

Bradley says, "The two communities they targeted in western Iowa are both communities that have seen an influx of immigrants in the last 10 years."

now this is where we will see the association of the media and those who control it, and the globalist agenda.

the next move will be to whole-heartedly promote, thru the msm, the connection between "racist" groups and their dislike of illegals. The illegals will be the victims of the HATEFUL neo-NAZI (also, islamonazi), and the softening of the perception of illegals will be in full swing - via the msm.

There was a great surprise when the shamnesty bill didn't pass.. they didn't think we'd rise up with such force... then the consistent barrage of smaller bills trying to push amnesty came thru, fast and hard... those were halted...

so the next phase comes..

Aligning the rule of law with hate groups.

I do hope they don't get involved.

The ones 'tracking' this however, the Anti Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center have both gotten very chummy with the illegal movements.

That makes me wonder if the KKK is as involved as they say or if they are attempting to make more of it than it is to make anyone who is working against illegal immigration seem to be somehow welcoming to the KKK.

This is a war - and there are some very dirty fighters out there and they have the media on their side. We need to remember that.

BrightNail and trixie, I think you're right. I believe the resurgence of nooses is also connected. The IA supporters have been using the race card to garner compassion for their cause. Now, we will be fed a constant diet of discrimination and hate-related sob stories.

Funny we don't hear a word about the 'ethnic cleansing' of blacks in LA by the Mexicans.

I can believe the growing membership. Groups like the Hispanic. Asian, Black and other racial caucuses in congress have some whites feeling they have been left without a voice.

This is potentially the worse thing that can happen to our cause. The vast majority of us who are anti illegal could not care less what race the illegal is. The Majority of us are not racists, but if the KKK starts to pick up our cause, it will be easier for the MSM (mail stream media) to paint us with the racist hate group brush.

BINGO!! That's precisely their objective. They know they can't beat us fairly, so they are resorting to dirty tactics. This is going to get very ugly.

I'm willing to bet that this is all staged. We haven't heard about the KKK for years unless it's that neo-nazi group that hates Americans trying to stir up trouble here as ALIPAC.

All of sudden nooses are appearing hanging from trees to create racial violence.

I smell something rotten and it's coming from the top, I mean bottom. The globalists are willing to provoke any and all staged acts of violence to get their suicidal plans pushed through.

I wrote an article on a different website a while back, and called it the balkanization of America. This is only going to get worse ladies and gentleman. The government is screwing their base, and when the base, the ones who pays the bills and doesn't get what they paid for feel more disaffected they will start taking matters into their own hands.

With a population that is over 85% armed that is NOT a good idea. It can get very ugly very quickly and our government is doing absolutely nothing to stop it.

This isn't good. We don't want to be lumped in with those losers! I personally don't mind legal immigrants. They add to the country and make it interesting. They will assimilate.... KKK sh*t
