A high-speed car chase Saturday evening near the international border ended with a Customs and Border Protection officer firing on a sedan as it careened through the Mariposa Port of Entry into Nogales, Sonora.
The vehicle was being pursued by U.S. Border Patrol officers when the fleeing driver appeared to aim the vehicle at the Customs officer in an effort to cross into Mexico, Customs and Border Protection spokesman Brian Levin said.
The incident, which is under investigation, occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Customs officers laid spikes across the road, but the driver of the sedan still made it into Mexico. Levin did not know whether Mexican authorities stopped the vehicle or caught the driver.
It was not immediately known how many shots were fired, how many occupants were in the car or why it was being chased by the Border Patrol, but Levin said no Customs officials were hurt.
Border inspections of vehicles headed into Mexico increased earlier this year when Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced steps to reduce contraband — notably money and drugs — crossing the border into Mexico. Increased inspections have led to increased violence toward Customs officers, Levin said.
The Mariposa Port of Entry, in west Nogales, is in the first phase of a four-year $212 million upgrade that will include a designated area for outbound inspections, Levin said.

And another

Concentric Security sliding beam crash gates offer high security protection from vehicular attacks and prevent the vehicle from entering a restricted area. Our Model GS-05-430 sliding beam is designed for frequent use and is intended for high security and low to moderate traffic flow applications.

And yet another style. So nice to have a choice.

Bye the way, this is the kind at the border between UAE and Oman that I cross every few months. When I pull my car up to the gate, the bollards come up, without FAIL!. I'm not going anywhere they don't want me to go. It takes about 1.5 seconds for the bollards to raise.
