Duncan Hunter challenges Bill Richardson to debate on fence

Lou Dobbs reported tonight that Duncan Hunter challenged NM Governor Bill Richardson to a debate on the border fence, live, on Lou Dobbs.

And, Lou committed up to half of his program for this debate!

Let's see if Richardson (potential Democratic candidate for President) has the guts to reiterate his comments on the fence within the context of a live debate!

Is Gov. Richardson serious, does he really think there is any way in he$$ his open border and amnesty agenda will get him elected as President of the United States? He must be be using an unusually large bong to smoke that wacky weed coming in from Mexico! I'm not even sure Bush would have been elected a second time if his amnesty agenda would have been made public prior to the elections. I know I darn well wouldn't have voted him into a second term!

Keep in mind, with this fight looming ahead, that bush never kept his plans quiet. He spoke of it before the 2000 election and spoke of it during the 04 election. Never hid it.

Bush did not start the heavy push until after the 2004 election.

You're right Sis. I remember this because right after Bush got elected I recall having a very long discussion with friends in CA about illegal immigration and Bush's plans for amnesty - and then 911 happened and set everything back.

The difference is that a major spotlight has now been placed on this problem and people are more aware and informed. Additionally, if the numbers crossing our borders in the past 5-6 years are correct, many more illegals have flooded our communities since Bush came into office, probably anticipating amnesty.

If it wasn't for 9/11 it all would be a done deal by now.

Fox has repeatedly said that the climate favors progress on immigration issues in the United States, which is Mexico's top foreign policy priority. The terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, derailed Fox's earlier hopes of reaching a broad agreement. Powell and Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge met with Fox for 30 minutes. A spokesman for Fox, Agustin Gutierrez Canet, said later that Fox "expressed satisfaction with the announcement that the U.S. government is going to give a high priority to migration reform during the second Bush term."
"Fox is absolutely crazy to think anything will happen on migration," said Jorge Montano, a former Mexican ambassador to the United States. "I thought we had learned that lesson, but I guess we did not. He's trying to sell the same thing he was trying to sell four years ago, and I don't think it's something that people will swallow in the United States."
