Latinos plan anti-Trump rally in Dallas, ahead of Trump visit

The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump just announced he’s coming to Dallas on Sept. 14th for a rally with his supporters at the American Airlines sports arena. But this Labor Day, an anti-Trump, warm-up reception of sorts is planned at the Dallas City Hall plaza at 1 p.m.
It’s organized by Carlos Quintanilla, a Chicago native who has been active in many political and immigration causes in North Texas. He’s calling it “Un Día Sin Trump,” a word play on the satirical movie A Day Without A Mexican.
Trump’s at the top of polls, including this latest one in Iowa where the first Republican caucuses will be held Feb. 1.
In July, Trump insulted many of Mexican ancestry when he said Mexican immigrants brought crime to the U.S. and were “rapists.”
Some believe that may pump up the Latino vote. Voter registrars are expected to be at the Dallas rally, Quintanilla says. “We will be ready,” he says.
Trump’s not polling well among Latinos. Eight out of ten gave the real estate tycoon a thumbs down in a poll this week in a new Washington Post/ABC News poll.
“Social networking is going ballistic with anti-Trump rhetoric and memes,” Quintanilla says.
But ultimately, it’s about the vote.
