Senate Leader Harry Reid tried to keep Sen. Sessions' E-Verify amendment from a floor vote, but pressure from other Senators forced the issue. In one more twist, Sen. Patrick Leahy motioned to table the amendment during the two-minute debate prior to Tuesday's vote, and the motion passed by a margin of 50-47.

Be sure to check NumbersUSA action board today. I had faxes to send to my two Senators - for all the good it will do to contact Durbin and Burris. I also called Burris office to let them know that unless he supports American workers he will not have my support for the next election. The person I spoke to agreed with me. Now that's irony.
