Thread: Why is Kobach twisting in the wind?

After two meetings together, why hasn't Trump appointed Kris Kobach as a Deputy at DHS or as an immigration "czar" yet? I'd rather hear talk about this, nationwide E-Verify, and the rescinding of Obama's executive orders or actions on immigration than all the media chatter about who is going to pay for a "wall."

Maybe it's because of what's excerpted below in this article:

Very good question. If Trump "moderates" on immigration it means he will betray his campaign promises that fueled his victory which will completely wreck him and his administration. Trump will politically live or die by the illegal immigration sword.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan said Thursday that illegal immigrant Dreamers don’t have to worry about being deported under a Trumpadministration, telling a mother that there won’t be a deportation force “knocking on your door this year.”

Mr. Ryan also said Congress won’t create the deportation force thatDonald Trump talked about during the election campaign because there is no need.

“There won’t be a deportation force,” he told CNN in a town hall.

The network confronted Mr. Ryan with an illegal immigrant mother who is also a Dreamer under President Obama’s 2012 amnesty, and with a woman whose son was killed by a repeat criminal who was in the U.S. illegally.

Mr. Ryan said the charge he has taken from Mr. Trump is to target the serious criminals for deportation while finding a way to grant Dreamers and other low-priority illegal immigrants legal status.

“That’s the problem he wants to focus on,” he said, pointing to the mother who lost her son. “This is not the focus,” he then said, pointing at the illegal immigrant mother, who stood with her daughter.

“If you’re worried about some deportation force coming and knocking on your door this year, don’t worry about that,” he assured the illegal immigrant.

The government already has a deportation force: the agents at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Mr. Trump’s campaign plan called for tripling the number of ICE agents.

I find it very concerning that Ryan is implying (or flat out saying) that Trump has tasked him with finding a way to give illegals amnesty!

Ryan is a liar if that's what he's saying. Trump would never do that. Why would he? Nothing in it for Trump, this administration, American Workers or our country. Nothing at all. Ryan's a loser trying to bring Trump down. We all know that. Ryan is just another Wiley Coyote.

I do not trust anything Ryan says. We are not going to knock on doors but Trump will go after the criminals first. I hope Trump makes it very difficult to be here illegally so they self-deport.

That includes cutting off Federal Funds to Sanctuary Cities and States, go after the Churches harboring these people and stop giving Churches our money to take care of them. End anchor baby scam, deem all Driver's Licenses issued to illegals "null and void", start turning them right back around at the border. Cut off all freebies including taxpayer funded schools and the IRS needs to stop issuing tax refunds and tax credits to illegals. No illegal alien should receive taxpayer benefits on behalf of a legal citizen...minor or otherwise.

No more detention, no more catch and release...send them back. All unaccompanied minor's need to be handed over into the care and custody of their Embassy or their government officials on their soil.

Terminate DACA and DAPA, they have been given "temporary status" and that status should never have been granted...they need to be deported.

These countries need to take care of their own people.

I am happy to hear "wet foot / dry foot" will be ending. We need to stop this invasion of our Country from EVERYWHERE!

Trump's many inconsistencies during his presidential campaign left me feeling anything was possible with him. In other words I went into this with my eyes wide-open knowing he could be influenced to change course on a dime. All the signs were there for those paying close attention. I'm hopeful Ryan is lying on this, but it's not possible for us to know what goes on during the personal conversations between Trump and Ryan. Furthermore, from what I'm hearing, it sounds like Trump's transition team is having a big influence on his thinking as of late. This begs the question, is his transition team more pro-amnesty or anti-amnesty? Honestly, I'm not sure.

For the sake of preparation and planning, unless Trump comes out and says Ryan misspoke, we have to take what Ryan said seriously. That's just my take on this whole mess.

MW is correct about Trump's many inconsistencies on this during the campaign. It will be a huge warning sign if Trump doesn't follow what's still written on his website (below) about "immediately" ending President Obama's executive amnesties, that I assume means on the first day or very shortly after he is inaugurated. And if he is working with or has tasked Ryan to work on a Dream Act amnesty that would change existing law, this contradicts his written statement:

Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain blocked President-elect Donald J. Trump’s first pick for Secretary of Homeland Security Kris Kobach over Kobach’s opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens, according to a highly-placed source familiar with the transition process.

The source told GotNews that anti-immigration Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach was Trump’s first pick for the head of the Department of Homeland Security, but that he eventually had to go with General John Kelly for the position because Graham and McCain swore to block Kobach’s confirmation in the Senate.

Graham and McCain reportedly blocked Kobach over his strict opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens.

Kobach’s hardcore plans were previously leaked and reported here on GotNews as including building a wall “rapid[ly]”, deporting a “record number” of illegal aliens, and ending election fraud.

President-elect Donald J. Trump has also privately said that endorsing John McCain for re-election in the Senate was his “biggest regret”, as GotNews exclusively reported earlier today. It’s unclear if McCain’s efforts to block Kobach factored into Trump’s assessment.

Although Kobach may not head the DHS, reports say he may yet join the Trump administration as President Trump’s “immigration czar.”
