Levin: California Is Gone Because Liberals Are Going to Extend Obamacare to Illegals

On his nationally syndicated radio talk show, host Mark Levin said the state of California is “gone” and that the state “will go broke” over the state’s healthcare exchange requesting a waiver from the Affordable Care Act so illegal immigrants can buy insurance.
“Now the state’s gone – beautiful, wonderful state – a state that will go broke,” said Levin. “I don’t know when, but it will go broke. Then they’ll come, hat in hand, to the United States Congress, and just as the United States Congress bailed out Puerto Rico, they will bail out California.”
Levin’s comments were in reference to a FoxNews.com piece that discussed the details of the waiver, which would “allow illegal immigrants to buy insurance on the [California health care] exchange – which would make California the first state to extend ObamaCare to illegal immigrants.”
Below is a transcript of Levin’s remarks:
“Alright. Alright, alright, I want to tell you about this.
“Fox News is reporting – this is what a disgrace, what a disgrace this is: ‘California’s health care exchange is requesting that it be allowed a waiver from ObamaCare regulations in order to allow illegal immigrants to buy insurance on the exchange – which would make California the first state to extend ObamaCare to illegal immigrants.’
“You know folks, since all of us subsidize Obamacare, no state should be able to do this. So now we’re going to subsidize the healthcare of foreigners – citizens, aliens of other countries? Now, just because the Democrat party in California conducts itself like a third world banana republic, it is destroying what truthfully is, and I’m not a Californian, or truthfully was the greatest state in the Union. They’ve destroyed it. Doesn’t mean the rest of us should participate in it.
“‘In a Sept. 30 letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell – don’t be surprised if she doesn’t do this, folks; she may well do it – Covered California’s Executive Director Peter Lee said that the Affordable Care Act has been “tremendously successful” in the state and has cut the rate of uninsured in half.’
“No, its not. He’s a liar. He’s a disgrace. I’ve got family in California: a son, a daughter, a granddaughter, a son-in-law. They have a hell of a time finding health insurance in California. Matter of fact, when it comes to my daughter and her family, they’re down to one: Blue Cross Blue Shield. That’s it!
“‘“While millions of Californians have benefitted from coverage purchased through the Covered California marketplace, certain individuals are prohibited from buying insurance through our state marketplace due to their immigration status,” [he wrote].
“‘The Affordable Care Act technically bars illegal immigrants from insurance exchanges, but in June Governor Jerry Brown’ – old moonbeam – ‘signed a bill that allowed the state to apply for a federal waiver to open Covered California to illegal immigrants living in California.’
“I remember the short period I lived in California. I believe it was Proposition 187 or 183. I think it was 187. It was the best last effort by the people of California to get this immigration issue under control because so many of the people of California knew it was destroying the state. And they passed it, and some d--- left-wing federal judge, trying to remember his name, maybe it was Henderson, ruled that most of it, if not all of it, was unconstitutional. I’m doing this by memory.
“The people knew. Now the state’s gone – beautiful, wonderful state – a state that will go broke. I don’t know when, but it will go broke. Then they’ll come, hat in hand, to the United States Congress, and just as the United States Congress bailed out Puerto Rico, they will bail out California. And then the states will start to line up. And then the Feds will own the d--- states, because liberals don’t care about federalism or state boundaries. They don’t even care about national boundaries.
“‘[E]ven if the Obama administration green-lights the waiver, the insurance plans that would be offered – California Qualified Health Plans – would not be subsidized.’
“Who cares! People are here illegally. They shouldn’t be on anything.
“‘Oh, I’m so hard.’ No, I’m not. What do we do, go into these countries and drag these people into the United States? No.
“‘The Department for Health and Human Services did not respond to a request for comment from FoxNews.com.’
“No, and they’re not going to because they’re – I guarantee you – there’s scheming going on here.”
