Immigration report The mayor's commission on immigration could file its report by the end of the week. Recommendations expected to be in the final draft include: Lexington city officials should advocate at the state level to change the law to allow people to obtain driver's licenses regardless of immigration status. Lexington city government should establish local identification cards for immigrants similar to the program in New Haven, Conn. Lexington police should be commended for efforts to build relationships with all parts of the community. No LFUCG agency should participate in the 287g program (federal immigration law training) at this time. Labor laws should be enforced. Social service agencies, churches and other non-profit groups should convene to discuss an enhanced office of international affairs. Above groups should partner with city and local media to inform general public about immigrants to dispel misinformation and tensions in community. Existing housing ordinances should be enforced more stringently. More resources should be allocated and enforcement should be done in a way that does not unfairly target immigrants. The LFUCG should make sure Title VI laws (which require agencies that receive federal funding to provide interpreters or adequate translation) are enforced and standards are met throughout local government. Welcome Kentuckian !!
I was born & raised in the tri-state area (KY,W.VA,OH) and have many family members there.I too am sadden by what is happening in Lexington and other areas.
If KY does not get a handle on Illegal Immigration they will be sorry.
Hospitals will be overwhelmed with Illegals who do not pay and eventually will either cut services or close.Waiting time in ER's will increase.
The Illegals will be the first in line for IHEAP and since it is a limited resource many needy citizens will go without.
The Illegals will be first in line for Federal welfare programs of all kinds again overwhelming KY's Welfare system.
Crime will increase because drug cartels will move in and drunk driving will increase since it is allowed in other countries.Police budgets will be strained.
Pedophilia will increase and rapes since the age of consent in other countries is 12 or non-exsistent for women.
They will take jobs from Kentuckians and we know jobs are not plentiful in KY.
I know this since I live in a state which is already becoming overwhelmed with Illegal Immigrants and these are the problems we are dealing with and I believe it is true of every state with large Illegal Immigrant populations.
We have enough criminals of our own without adding those from other countries here Illegally.
Hope this helps in your talks with other KY's and there is tons of info here on ALIPAC to back up these claims."A Government big enough to give you everything you want,is strong enough to take everything you have"* Thomas Jefferson

I spoke to the Mayor's office again. The special commision was composed of volunteers. Two public hearings were held and all the events have been open. The special commision will be giving their recommendations to the Urban Council and the Mayor. One of perhaps eigh recommendations will be to give an identification card to ILLEGAL ALIENS.
or undocumented immigrants.
If you live in Lexington you oppose this, please take to thime to contact the mayor and the urban council.
