CBS: Obama's Approval Rating Plummets to 37%; disapproval rate is at 57%

Obama's approval number is down to 37% now, by the way. Have you seen that? Of course you haven't! Why am I asking?

Heckuva job, Obama! Americans jeer the president’s performance

By David Sherfinski - The Washington Times - Wednesday, November 20, 2013

President Obama’s approval rating has sunk to 37 percent in a new poll released Wednesday — the lowest of his presidency — and his disapproval rate is at 57 percent, a new high for him in CBS News polls.
His approval rating has dropped 9 points since October, according to the CBS News poll.

Approval of his health care overhaul, commonly known as Obamacare, is now at an all-time low of 31 percent and disapproval is at 61 percent, a high for the poll, as his administration scrambles to deal with the fallout from a rocky rollout of major parts of the law on Oct. 1. Forty-six percent say they “disapprove strongly” of the law.

Eighty-eight percent of Republicans disapprove of the law — little changed from last month’s 87 percent figure. But approval among independents fell from 38 percent to 27 percent, and approval of Democrats dropped from 74 percent to 58 percent.
Two-thirds say the signup for insurance on government health care exchanges is not going well, and nearly two-thirds are not confident that the federal HealthCare.gov website will be mostly fixed by Dec. 1. The White House said earlier this week that a goal of 80 percent recruitment among all users of the website would be nearly the best result possible.

“I think the way to look at that figure is that of, say, 10 who go on the system, roughly two won’t get through the system,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. He said the 20 percent who can’t enroll includes people who aren’t “comfortable” signing up online or have personal circumstances that are too “complex” to use the website.

Similar to some other polls, however, a majority of Americans do not favor outright repeal of the law. Seven percent think it’s working well and should be kept as is, 48 percent think some changes are needed, and 43 percent think it should be repealed.
During the presidential campaign last fall, 60 percent of voters thought of Mr. Obama as honest and trustworthy, compared to 49 percent of Americans in the poll released Wednesday.
Americans hold dim views of both parties in Congress; just 26 percent approve of how congressional Democrats are doing their job and 21 percent say the same for congressional Republicans.
However, the mark for Democrats is down slightly from last month’s 31 percent, and Republicans ticked up from 18 percent. Disapproval of Democrats increased from 65 percent to 68 percent and disapproval of Republicans declined from 78 percent to 73 percent.
The CBS News poll of 1,010 adults was conducted from Nov. 15-18 and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

    Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
    Wednesday, November 19, 2014

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Obama's job performance. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove (see trends).

The latest figures include 22% who Strongly Approve of the way Obama is performing as president and 38% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16.

The president is reportedly close to announcing that up to five million illegal immigrants will no longer be subject to deportation and that many of them will be eligible for legal work permits. Most voters oppose his plan and think the federal government isn’t doing enough to deport illegal immigrants.

The Senate has joined the House in voting to go ahead with the Keystone XL pipeline, but it’s one vote short of overriding a presidential veto. Most voters have long favored construction of the oil pipeline from Canada to Texas and think it will be good for the U.S. economy.

Homeowners remain confident they know much their home is worth in today’s market, and more than ever think that it's are worth more than when they bought it.

When it comes to the so-called “net neutrality” effort by the federal government to gain regulatory control over the Internet, most Americans think the government should leave their Internet alone.

Fifty-four percent (54%) of Americans are confident in the nation’s banks, near the high for the year but still well below the level of confidence measured before the 2008 financial meltdown.

Most adults continue to be concerned about inflation, with 82% who say they are spending more on groceries than a year ago and 71% who expect to be spending even more a year from now.

Voters still believe there is a conflict between economic growth and economic fairness but also continue to feel that economic growth is the more important of the two.

Some readers wonder how we come up with our job approval ratings for the president since they often don’t show as dramatic a change as some other pollsters do. It depends on how you ask the question and whom you ask.

To get a sense of longer-term job approval trends for the president, Rasmussen Reports compiles our tracking data on a full month-by-month basis.

Rasmussen Reports has been a pioneer in the use of automated telephone polling techniques, but many other firms still utilize their own operator-assisted technology (see methodology).

Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. To reach those who have abandoned traditional landline telephones, Rasmussen Reports uses an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants from a demographically diverse panel. The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 1,500 Likely Voters is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for full-week results are available for Platinum Members.

Most Voters Still Veto Obama’s Immigration Plan
    Tuesday, November 18, 2014

President Obama is reportedly about to announce that up to five million illegal immigrants will no longer be subject to deportation, but most voters oppose his plan. The majority, in fact, continue to believe the federal government already isn’t doing enough to send illegal immigrants back home.

Fifty-six percent (56%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the U.S. government is not aggressive enough in deporting those who are in this country illegally, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. That’s up slightly from 52% in April but down from a high of 60% a year ago. Just 16% believe the government’s deportation policy is too aggressive, while 17% say the number of deportations is about right. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Fifty-three percent (53%) oppose the president’s plan to protect up to five million illegal immigrants from deportation and give many of them legal work permits. Thirty-four percent (34%) favor that plan, while 13% are undecided.

Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters already have signaled that they oppose the president granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants without the approval of Congress, and 55% think Congress should challenge that action in court.

But opposition is lower when voters are asked about specifics of Obama’s anticipated plan. For example, voters are evenly divided when asked if illegal immigrants who have lived in this country for five years or more without breaking the law should be exempt from deportation: 40% say yes; 41% say no, but a sizable 20% are undecided.

Thirty-eight percent (38%) believe illegal immigrants who have American-born children should be exempt from deportation. Forty-two percent (42%) disagree and think they still should be deported. But again 20% are not sure.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on November 16-17, 2014 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Republicans have been highly critical of the president’s use of executive orders like the one he is considering on deportation policy, claiming many of them are unconstitutional because he has not gotten congressional approval. House Republicans are already suing the Obama administration for making changes in the national health care law without Congress’ okay.

In late June, a plurality (44%) of voters said the president has been less faithful to the U.S. Constitution than most other presidents. Twenty-two percent (22%) felt Obama has been more faithful to the Constitution than most of his predecessors, while 30% said he has followed the Constitution about the same as other presidents have.

Interest in illegal immigration remains high. Seventy-nine percent (79%) of voters say they have been following recent news reports about the topic, with 40% who are following Very Closely.

Eighty-one percent (81%) of Republicans and 56% of voters not affiliated with either of the major political parties believe the federal government’s current deportation policies are not aggressive enough. But just 33% of Democrats agree.

By a 52% to 31% margin, voters in the president’s party favor his plan to end the deportation threat for up to five million illegal immigrants and to give many of them legal work permits. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of Republicans and unaffiliated voters by a 52% to 35% margin are opposed.

Opposition among Republican and unaffiliated voters falls when specifics are on the table. Still, most GOP voters and pluralities of unaffiliateds oppose ending deportation for those who have been here illegally for five years or more without breaking the law and those who have American-born children.

Support among Democrats for both exemptions is only slightly higher than their overall approval of the president’s projected plan.

Most voters have said in surveys for several years that a child born to illegal immigrants should not automatically be a citizen of the United States as is the current policy.

Forty-eight percent (48%) of Americans think limiting or ending automatic U.S. citizenship for children born to those who enter the United States illegally will reduce future illegal immigration a lot. Twenty-four percent (24%) say it will help a little, while 20% believe limiting or ending this practice will not reduce illegal immigration at all.

An increasing majority of voters believes gaining control of the border is the most important immigration reform needed, but they think the federal government encourages illegal immigration instead.

If uber liberal Obama protecting CBS says Obama is at 37% (Support) and 57% (opposed) then you can count on the real numbers being much more dramatic than that somewhere in or exceeding 60% opposed and below 35% support.

Considering that many people get their news via MSN or the fanboys/fangirls on public TV, the biggest surprise is how many people see thru 'Bama's propaganda machine.

This is not rocket science. Jobs for illegals means fewer entry level jobs for Americans. The poorest Americans, many of whom are black, will be the hardest hit.

More STEM visas means even greater unemployment for our own STEM graduates.
