Socialism: Equal Sharing Of The Miseries
A user from the popular image sharing site imgur has uploaded a series of photos showing food lines in Venezuela. The lines are undoubtedly the result of new price controls that President Nicolas Maduro has instituted as an effort to tame inflation.
The “Fair Price Law” is causing devastating shortages due to the fact that by putting caps on prices eliminates the the first law of economics, supply and demand. The law sets a maximum profit margin of 30% and requires firms to obtain “fair price” certificates to access dollars through the government’s currency system.
People reportedly wait in line up to four hours to get food at the grocery store.

No Spaghetti For You: Venezuela Noodle Maker Halts Production Due To Lack Of Dollars
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/29/2014 19:42 -0400
Despite the endless claims by Maduro and his merry men that the new-and-improved SICAD II anti-hyperinflation FX allocation system is working well, it seems it is anything but...
- *VENEZUELA'S EMPRESAS POLAR HALTS PASTA PRODUCTION ON FX SHORTAGE
The firm, which produces multiple pasta products, has been forced to 'suspend' operations due to a lack of raw materials (wheat) because it has no foreign currency to use for settlement. Polar says it is working with authorities to find a solution.
As Bloomberg reports,Venezuela’s Empresas Polar has temporarily halted pasta production at its plant in Maracaibo because of delays in obtaining foreign currency from Cencoex to import wheat, the company said today in an e-mailed statement. And the full statement from Empresas Polar:
Operations at the plant, which makes the Primor and Gran Senora brands of pasta, stopped on April 27 after inventory that had been loaned from other companies ran out
Polar says its working with government to find solutions to import wheat
Polar Foods plant in Maracaibo Commercial, which produces the brand pasta Primor and Great Lady , was forced to temporarily suspend its operations due to the delay in the settlement of foreign currency by Cencoex (formerly Cadivi) for the purchase of wheat durum, imported raw material required for the manufacture of pasta. So no toilet paper and now no pasta... how's that whole socialism thing working out? We await Maduro to proclaim them a national treasure and allocate funds accordingly - lik ethe oil companies - or... call them speculators for not having enough dollars and throw the executives in jail.
Operations were halted on Sunday April 27, after wheat inventories were obtained through loans from other companies were sold.
As this is a case of force majeure attributable to the company, the procedure for waiver of the employment relationship with the plant workers agreed, as stated in Article 72 of the Labor Law, the Workers and Workers.
The situation is known to the national authorities, who have held numerous communications and meetings, which were alerted in a timely and responsible manner on the risks of delayed settlement currency for the payment of debt suppliers and their effects on the production of an item that is part of the staple diet of Venezuelans.
Polar Enterprises continues to work with the authorities in the search for solutions to obtain in a timely manner, the raw material to restart production as soon as possible Pasta of Primor and Great Lady.

The Fruit of Obamaism
Steve Deace 34 mins ago
One of my favorite guests to book is Wayne Root. He's smart, articulate, winsome, and has lived the American dream. He just wrote a piece for The Blaze that is a stunning but factual indictment of the Obama Regime.
Root points out:
The USA has had the unchallenged number one economy in world since 1872 (when we passed the United Kingdom). 1872. Eighteen hundred and seventy two. Let that sink in for a while.
That is 142 years of world dominance erased in only six years under one man's leadership.
Under Obama's watch, Canada just passed America for the crown of number one middle class in the world. This is the first time in modern history that America's middle class isn't leading the world. This was reported by the Obama-loving New York Times.
Under Obama, there are now more food stamp recipients than the number of women working full-time in America.
Under Obama, the average full-time male employee now earns less (adjusted for inflation) than 40 years ago.
Under Obama, there are now 70 percent more Americans collecting entitlement checks than working in the private sector (148 million "takers" vs. 86 million "makers"). This isn't a conservative opinion. It's a fact provided by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Under Obama, the number of working-age Americans not in the labor force is at all-time highs.
Under Obama, the workplace participation rate of men is the lowest in history.
Under Obama, the workforce participation rate of women is the lowest on record.
Under Obama, the workforce participation rate for black Americans is the lowest in history.
Under Obama's watch, over 800,000 Americans dropped out of the job market last month. That's almost one million people who have given up…in a month.
That's almost one million dreams killed…in a month. What happens to all these people? Where do they go? How do they survive? Who will pay for it all?
This is a devastating legacy, and it's all true.
There is little doubt the president and his political allies will pay a hefty price for this devastating legacy in this November's mid-terms. That's the good news. The bad news is many of the Republicans we will replace these Bolsheviks with don't have the testicular fortitude it takes to push back on the damage that has already been done. At best, they'll stop more new bad stuff from happening.
To turn the country back towards American Exceptionalism again will require a standard-bearer in 2016 with the smarts, charisma, and courage to make this case directly to the American people. Someone who has the same sense of urgency on behalf of liberty that Obama has had for statism.

Venezuela Sets New "Fair" Prices For Chicken, Sugar, Rice & Coffee
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/13/2014 19:03 -0400
It should hardly come as a surprise for a nation such as the US that is used to being told what a "fair" price for interest rates is... and a "fair" price for housing is... and a "fair" price for stocks is... that Venezuela (perhaps a few years ahead of America in the socialism stakes) has seen its 'price regulator' declare today its new "fair" prices for various foods. Coming to a Safeway near you any day now... (as US food price inflation soars - especially ahead of the barbecue season).
As Bloomberg reports:
Venezuela price regulator publishes list of food prices on its website.
- A kilogram of sugar to be sold for 9.72 bolivars ($1.54 at official exchange rate of 6.3 bolivars per dollar)
- A kilogram of chicken to cost 43 bolivars ($6.82)
- A kilogram of coffee to cost 46.6 bolivars ($7.40), and
- A kilogram of rice to cost 9.5 bolivars ($1.50)
This follows Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro signing law to adjust prices to “fair” levels and limit profit margins to 30% back in January.
Think it won't / can't happen here...
Bloomberg notes, consumers in the U.S. will probably pay the most ever for meat this grilling season as costs for pork and beef surge, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.
Seems "Unfair"? on a minimum wage?
