Obama slams Trump speech: Can't make decisions
    based on fear

President Obama on Friday rejected Donald Trump’s case that violence, crime and immigration are threatening the country’s very foundation less than a day after the businessman officially claimed the Republican presidential nomination.

“This idea that America is somehow on the verge of collapse, this vision of violence and chaos everywhere does’t really jibe with the experience of most people,” Obama said during a joint news conference with Mexican President Enrique Peña-Nieto at the White House.

In November’s election, Obama said it’s natural that there will be “different visions of where we go as a country.”
“But we’re not going to make good decisions based on fears that don’t have basis in fact,” he added.

It was the president’s first response to Trump’s Thursday night speech at the Republican National Convention, in which the party’s standard bearer painted a bleak picture of the United States and positioned himself as a singular figure who could fix the nation’s problems.

Obama appeared dismissive of Trumps’s speech, saying that he didn’t take the time to watch the GOP convention live on television and only read about it later. “I don’t think that’s a surprise, I got a lot of stuff to do,” he said.

But then the president rattled off a litany of statistics showing that rates of murder, violent crime, intentional killings of police officers and illegal immigration are lower than they were before he took office, seeking to undercut the central arguments of Trump’s speech.

"America is much less violent than it was 20, 30 years ago, and immigration is much less a problem than it was not just 20, 30 years ago, but when I came in as president,” he said.

"All the good things that are happening in America don't get reported on a lot."

During his speech in Cleveland, Trump argued that free trade deals have hollowed out the middle class and led to inner city violence and poverty.

He cited murders carried out by undocumented immigrants, shootings of police in Dallas and Baton Rouge, La., and terror attacks in Orlando and San Bernardino, Calif., as evidence the country is spiraling out of control.

“We’re not going to have our country anymore" without drastic changes, he argued.

Just the image of Obama standing beside his Mexican counterpart was meant to undercut Trump’s arguments on trade and immigration.

Peña-Neto refused to weigh in on the race between Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton, saying he has the “deepest respect” for both and pledging to work with whomever wins in November.

But he spoke about the “unbreakable” bond between the U.S. and Mexico, noting that many citizens of both nations live and work on both sides of the border — remarks that stood in contrast with Trump’s call to build a giant wall on the southern border.

Peña-Nieto showered praise on the North American Free Trade Agreement, which Trump has pledged to renegotiate.

Obama also listed the benefits of the trade ties between both countries. Looking to rebut Trump’s protectionist message, Obama said that the era of globalization is here to stay.

“We’re not going to be able to build a wall around that,” he said.

    Jessie Hellmann contributed.

How does Odama know? He is so out of touch with the people of his own country he hasn't a clue what is going on. Now this guy decides to make speeches? Odama has his head so far up the globalist arses he hears nothing only what they are telling him to do and say.

It's obvious you Obama can't make decisions based on fear, because you have no fear. You're a coddled, protected, funded puppet who has nothing to fear. You're protected by secret service, you're coddled and well-funded by US taxpayers, you've never risked anything, never done anything, you've talked your way into the White House based on your blackness, and 7.5 years later, everyone is furious, furious at unemployment, poverty, ObamaCare, lost jobs, lost industry, massive immigration, illegal immigration, executive orders that put the interests of illegal aliens above those of US citizens, American Workers and US taxpayers. Fear? No, Americans are not afraid, we're not fearful, we're FURIOUS! We're PISSED OFF at you and your stupid antics, games, negligence, treason, betrayals, stupidity, smugness and arrogance.

You don't "jive" with the American People. You had a wonderful chance, a great opportunity to at least do something for black Americans. That's really what people expected of you, they thought you as a black man might have some special knowledge of how to go into these ghettos with programs to raise them up, put people back to work, turn blighted crime zones into new thriving communities and neighborhoods with jobs, incomes, private housing and retail services.

But no, you couldn't even do that. Donald J Trump will have to do that. He's done it over and over all across this country, so when he's elected President, he'll do it in all the places he hasn't been yet. He will wipe out this blight, he will turn these blighted areas and crime zones into beautiful places to live and work.

You are so useless, it's shameful.

6 months to go and the nightmare of your Presidency will be left to the historians to try to find something worth writing about.

It is sad, but on the bright side, there's more of US who see and know the truth, than those who don't. Americans are waking up and by November a vast majority will know the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth about what's been happening to our country and who is responsible for it.

You should not make decisions based fear? Why not? What else is fear good for? Is there something wrong with being afraid? When people start mass murdering innocent people in the street in broad daylight shouldn't we be afraid?

Good judgment makes one fear things one should be afraid of. And it makes one unafraid of things one should not be afraid of. Poor judgment makes one fear things one should not be afraid of. And it makes one unafraid of things that one should be afraid of. It is like hate. There is nothing wrong with hate. One should not hate things that are unworthy of hate. And one should not love things that are only worthy of hate.

The absence of fear or hate is not the presence of wisdom. It is true that ignorance is bliss. And people would rather embrace ignorance rather than confront negative feelings. It is like a spouse who suppresses fear and loathing for an abuser in the vain hope of something better out of them.

People cannot govern themselves if they cannot reliably depend on their feelings.

Some people claim to be afraid of Trump. They say he is a Hitler. Do they really believe this? Or are they just lying to gain sympathy? If one should not make decisions based on fear, they should include the decision to support Trump.
