MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) = Pro-Illegal Alien
I hope anyone on this board, but particularly those living in North Carolina, will get "MADD" about the information contained in this post.
I'm sure most of you that read this board know about the awful story of the death of Scott Gardner. On July 16, 2005, an illegal alien, Ramiro Gallegos, killed Scott Gardner, severely injured his wife, Tina Gardner, and caused minor injuries to their two young children when he caused a crash while drvingin drunk in Brunswick County, North Carolina. The illegal alien had been convicted three times of driving drunk, but had never been deported.
Here is a link to a news story about the indictment of illegal alien Ramiro Gallegos for second degree murder: http://www.wect.com/Global/story.asp?S= ... v=2gQccpas.
Also, here is a link to a news story about the recovery attempt of Scott Gardner's wife who went into a coma as result of the crash:

As a result of this crash, Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.) introduced legislation that would mandate the deportation of any illegal alien convicted of DWI. Here is a link to a description from her website of that legislation: http://myrick.house.gov/hot_topics_immi ... scondc.htm.
When the United States House of Representatives passed legislation relating to illegal immigration, H.R. 4437, on December 16, 2005, an amendment introduced by Rep. Myrick was a part of that bill. Here is a link to the text of the amendment: http://www.rules.house.gov/109/specialr ... rick79.pdf. Rep. Myrick's amendment passed on a voice vote. The amendment provided for the deportation of illegal aliens upon a first drunk driving conviction.
When I called MADD headquarters and asked to speak with someone about MADD supporting Rep. Myrick's legislation, I assumed that it would not be any problem to obtain such support. I was wrong. I was told that MADD will not take a position on Rep. Myrick's legislation.
According to its website, "MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking." Apparently, there is an exception for illegal aliens that drive drunk.
The toll-free number for MADD is 1-800-GET-MADD (1-800-438-6223). I hope that people will call MADD and ask why it will not support Rep. Myrick's legislation.
If anyone is interested, I can provide other contact information for MADD, including the names of persons to call or e-mail at MADD. However, it would be great for people to just call the general MADD number and voice their frustration about this issue and ask why MADD won't support the deportation of multiple convicted illegal alien drunk drivers.
