America: Throw The Bums Out

Americans are fed up with elected officials, according to recent polling data which finds that just 19 percent of likely voters believe that most members of Congress deserve to be re-elected.



On Monday, Gallup reported that the number of Americans who feel that most members of Congress should be replaced is the second highest since the polling agency began asking the question in 1992.
“These negative evaluations of Congress have historically been related to lower rates of incumbent re-election in midterm elections and a higher turnover of congressional seats,” Gallup reports.
To better understand what the numbers could mean for the upcoming midterm elections, will to reelect sitting members of Congress is 14 points lower than in 2010 and 19 points lower than in 1994, both years that saw midterm shakeups due to voter dissatisfaction.
The flipside to the high rate of disproval, however, is that 50 percent of voters say that their particular Congressional representative deserves to be re-elected.
“This percentage essentially ties with the response to this question in 2010, and is just slightly higher than the 48% in 1992,” Gallup notes. “So while this measure is historically low, it has not dropped to the record-low depths of the ‘most members’ question.”

Term limits would be a great start to rebuilding the American dream.

American voters are not going to throw out their guy that "brings home the bacon!" In the voting booth this issue gets so little thought it is all but ignored. It will be again. I don't like it, it should not be ignored, but that is what the history of the past 30 years proves, The bummest part, is by continuing to vote for Democrats or republicans they continue to harm themselves, as also been statistically proven the last thirty years. Go figure!

Still, what can Americans do? Election after election its picking the one you think is the least bad or least bad for your interests. Vote to throw them out and it can only really be done by voting for another just as bad. The parties control who they let run in their primaries, they control the Media, they control most outlets, and they have all the big money backed behind them. Look at the DNC's primaries this year and the last election. No Dem primary challengers usually.

It sounds real bad but I think the only possibility at this point outside the House is having independent minorities running especially black. For President in 2016 almost feel like need an independent black woman just to steal the liberal female vote and the black vote. It sounds horrible, racist, and sexist but when to many of the voters vote based on race or party and there is no good way to get real information to low information voters who get 99% of their news from buddies and major media outlets.
